Guest guest
I will say that the operation with the robotics was the right choice for Don. He had been told horror stories by men who should have known better about the pain after regular prostate surgery so we found a highly qualified doctor 5 1/2 hours away and he only stayed over night. The next day he insisted on coming home that whole long ride and only took maybe three darvocet the whole time of his recovery. I guess when everything went so smoothly it was like being kicked in the face to find out he's not out of the woods yet. He is not handling this news well at all and I feel so upset for him. Alan, when you put that either way, I wouldn't be losing him for a long long time you did so much to relieve my mind. Everything I read on the net seems to say that even with radiation he is only looking at 5 years and our sons and I have just been going crazy. Luckily Don doesn't do much surfing so I'm sure he hasn't seen these but as actual survivors you and Steve have done much to allay my concerns. Thanks, Laurel

Where are you looking on the Net? There's a good set of " nomograms " -- software that lets you put in your current situation, and spits out survival rates -- on the Memorial / Sloan Kettering website: http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/10088.cfm Those numbers will be pretty reliable.
