Access denied to crucial new HIV/AIDS medicines under the Indian government’s AIDS treatment programme. Many HIV - positive people face aids & death. DHARNA: 29 November – 1 December 2006, Inauguration: 11 AM, Jantar Mantar WHAT: The Indian Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS (INP+) is holding a three-day Dharna at Jantar Mantar, which will culminate in a mass rally on World AIDS Day – 1 December to demand that the Indian government include new AIDS drugs in its free ARV (anti-retroviral) treatment programme. Many persons living with HIV from around the country in dire need of second line treatment will sit in the dharna for all three days. WHEN: The inauguration of the Dharna will take place at 11 am on 29 November 2006 at Jantar Mantar and will be addressed by MPs, persons living with HIV and activists and social workers representing various organizations. The rally will take place on 1 December 2006 – World AIDS Day at Jantar Mantar, 10.30 am onwards.
