Guest guest
ThyroDiva saw her own doctor today!! Wonderful experience. Since I last saw her, I had increased my meds to 2 3/4 grain (from 2 1/4, which I " thought " was optimal. It wasn't). My results were: TSH: 0.009 Free T3: 5.0 (2.3 - 4.2) Free T4: 1.0 (.61 - 1.76) I increased because I was treating SYMPTOMS, so seeing the labs, which I do NOT treat to anymore, was interesting. And she didn't flinch too much about the TSH. She has learned that it's useless once you are on Armour. BUT, she still had concerns about a TSH below .35 because of potential bone loss. (I need to send her articles from the web--she's not updated there.) YET, she countered her concern because we will supplement me with estrogen. And she was absolutely fine with my free T3 of 5.0. (I had taken my Armour before the labs.) Notice that the T3 is ABOVE the top of the range. Only there did I rid myself of the symptoms I describe just below. And note that I have no hyper symptoms whatsoever. And, it took the increase to get rid of hair loss, hard stools, and the metabolism of a slug. The latter three are virtually gone!! Interesting though, I had a low DHEA value: 34 (26 - 200). And then she asked " are you under stress? " . " Yes! " I replied. I run an antique store!! So she explain that when you are under stress, your cortisol rises and your DHEA falls! Remarkable, too, is that I am on 5 mg DHEA via gel!! Imagine what it would have been without that!! SO, we are raising my DHEA to 15 mg. My estradiol was 43--that's too low, and my progesterone was low, but enough to cause me to have shedding monthly. But the main concern was they were imbalanced. So as far as my female hormones, I will be doing Oestragel and 25 mg. progesterone to counter the negative effects of the estrogen. And get this---she said if a woman menstruates well into her 50's I am 51 and very cyclical), as it appears I might be doing, it's an indication of good health. i.e. you are younger than your age. I was thrilled (though I wouldn't mind stopping these dang periods). She attributed it to my doing anti-aging treatments, like Armour, Dhea, female hormones, testosterone, etc. And finally, my total testosterone was 63 (14-76)--that's a result of me being on 1 mg. via gel every day. That is good, and improves libido, muscle development, health. I can attest to the muscle development--since I got on testosterone, my lower back pain in the morning STOPPED!! Yee haw!! AS far as the libido, I just have a big grin on my face----hehehehe. Janie aka ThyroDiva p.s. For those in or near Colorado, I see Judith Chandler in Colorado Springs. She is an NP for Dr. Juetersonke, another excellent doc.
