I tried the shortening substitute!

Here's my report . . . .

I decided to use the butter for the shortening in my tortilla recipe

and added wheat flour instead of white and they turned out ok! A

little heavy but that may be because my 6yo didn't roll them thin

enough--who knows! They still tasted good though!

Now to try a few more recipes . . .

Thanks to everyone who posted information about the brown sugar and

shortening substitutions! I finally found the Sweet n Low Brown at

my store!

It was probably kinda heavy because whole wheat is so much more

dense than white flour. Think of WW bread - usually kind of heavy,

right?

It was probably kinda heavy because whole wheat is so much more

dense than white flour. Think of WW bread - usually kind of heavy,

right?
