Guest guest
Hi From my understanding, topical creams, body washes etc. containing gluten/casein/soy can be absorbed transdermally into the bloodstream. These are some of the products I have been using and some that Aileen suggested in her repsonse to my post: California Baby - Body Wash/shampoo, sunblock and body/face moisturiser (look at the label as they make several different products) available Wholefoods. These products are fantastic but are quite pricey! Tom's of Maine - Silly strawberry toothpaste also available at Wholefoods. Kirkman (www.kirkmanlabs.com) make GFCF toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap etc. Aileen mentioned that Arm and Hammer, Dove and Pantene make some GFCF products - best to contact them directly to get confirmation on any particular product you're interested in. Hope this helps..... Caroline. I hope you don't mind if I jump in this post but it just rang some bells for me… I have been doing the diet with my 4 yr old daughter for about 6 weeks (probably only about 4 weeks completely on the diet) and we have not seen much change. Actually, her behaviors have worsened. I thought it was maybe because of the gum she was chewing but then found out later that the gum was in fact gluten/casein free. However after reading this post, I realized that I am not doing anything different with products that she uses that are not ingested – shampoo, suntan lotion and thinking about it now…toothpaste (which my daughter does ingest). I didn't realize I had to change out these products as well. Could this be why I am not seeing any changes? And can anybody recommend products? Thanks once again, From: sList [mailto:sList ] On Behalf Of & Sharon Sent: Wednesday, April 16, 2008 10:33 AMTo: sList Subject: Re: GFCF soy free sunblock/bodywash How do you know the California Baby is GFCF Free or soy free? Do they claim that someplace? It is made with a chemical called Decyl Polyglucose which is derived from corn, coconut and palms. I don't know mych about the diet but are those items GFCF free? Any suggestions much appreciated! -- Caroline -- Caroline
