Guest guest
Hi Montana, I am not sure why you were told to use low fat cheese. I don't think it was for purposes of Diabetes. Cheese appears to be fairly low carb and this is a very good thing. About the Aspartame, it is what is contained in Nutrasweet. Aspartame has been linked to some very serious problems in some people but, by the same token, so has Splenda. Cy, the Ancient okie... Re: blood sugar tests Oh I understand now, Don't blame you for that one. Now in the middle of the night I had a funny taste but don't know if it had to do with low sugar or not. I had taken a pepsid before I went to bed to get my tummy to settle down. Then it went away. Even Jim at this time wouldn't know what to expect either. Also cheese I was told to get low fat cheese. Some of that tastes horrible. And I have lost five pounds so far since I have changed my diet. So I am on the rite track for sure. I asked if I was loosing quickly and she said no. --Dar --Every Saint has a Past, Every Sinner has a Future blood sugar tests > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did you folks learn how to take your blood sugar. Guest guest
thanks I wasn't going to brake down to low cheese count on it. Guest guest
No cheese doesn't have any carbs but is high in fat and if you are trying to lose weight it isn't the best choice of food in large quantities. It is recommended to eat about 40 grams of hard cheese or 2 slices, per serve. from down under blood sugar tests > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did you folks learn how to take your blood sugar. Guest guest
well, if you think of it, any thing you eat that is made in a lab, a chemical, can potentially deplete the body's immune system since the body has to work over time to get this whatever/chemical out of our body. Water doesn't present that problem to our bodies. Regards, blood sugar tests > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did you folks learn how to take your blood sugar. Guest guest
Montana, After having read a great number of subsequent messages on this and the Aspartame, Splenda and other topics I would jut point out that old Finegold was not all wrong in his opinion of additives over thirty years ago. From what has said the Master's Diet is along those same lines. AS others have said, most things with moderation will keep you out of serious trouble most of the time. and others have preached the " Small numbers, small mistakes, large numbers, large mistakes " theory and they are absolutely correct. The great secret to controlling your Diabetes is learning how to count them carbs. That is, I believe, the long and short of the whole thing. Beginning to just know that a slice of cheese is about 1 carb and an egg is about 1 carb will give you a good start. Knowing that one of those wee little snack crackers is about 3 carbs will also help you. If you like pork skins you are in business as they have no carbs. Find a dip you enjoy with very low carbs, grab some celery and pork skins and have a blast.... Now, interestingly, the " all natural " peanut butter has more carbs than the really good peanut butter from Wal-Mart... Figure out what you like to eat on a day to day basis and then get the carb count of those items. It is a good start and you will soon have the situation well under control. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
Well, I really wonder why I have not been more sick my whole life. I have been diabetic since 1944 and been using artificial sweetners of all kinds since then. I have no problems from any immune system things. I really think it is a matter of the amount you use. If you use tons of the stuff, it will hurt you as will too much of anything. Guest guest
Wow that is a long time and I am so glad you are here to talk about it. I am concerned about splenda. So far sweet and low doesn't bother me, and I would hate to buy something and then find out it does bother me. So how do you bake or do you? Also I am wondering about the cookie called fig Newton's. I know they have one out there that is a light. --Dar --Every Saint has a Past, Every Sinner has a Future blood sugar tests > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > How did you folks learn how to take your blood sugar. Guest guest
Montana, I honestly don't think I would worry too much about splenda. I have heard very little, if any, bad things about it. A friend sent me something about a year ago about Splenda but I can no longer find it. Most folks I know use it without problems. Aspartame on the other hand has had a multitude of documented complaints. Way back in the early Seventies a product was developed and I think it was called Cyclimate or something very similar. As with Splenda it was transparant to the taste buds. It was a very, very good product. In fact, it was so good that it threatened the sugar business so a few of the major sugar producers co-funded a Cyclimate study and determined that the use of Cyclimate would cause cancer. The FDA acted immediately and yanked the product off the shelves like yesterday. Well, what the study did not actually make real clear is the amount of the product one would have to consume in order to get cancer. The actual amount was something like 800 cans of pop per day in order to have a problem...... The real problem was the Sugar Lobby. The reason I happen to know this is that I worked for a major sugar producer and watched with amazement while the plot played out. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
NO I am worried how I will be effected by it. Not what it has in it.
