Yes, I could always feel my fibroid. Especially laying on my stomach on the

floor. Felt like a little walnut. Mine seemed to grow at in three week

intervals. I'd get this little jiggle sensation in the area. I felt like I

was an experiment on the x-files

I can feel my fibroid in the a.m. before I rise to use the bathroom

(in other words, when lying down and on a full bladder) It makes me

upset to feel it... I had perfectly flat, well defined abs besides

this decided to invade!!!

I could really feel mine well. They were hard as rocks and I pretty

much knew what was where. It was sorta like a bag of big rocks or

grapefruits in my tummy. I also lost mobility in the bend over

department.

Hi Debbi -- oh yes, absolutely, I can feel mine. When

I'm lying flat on my back, I can feel and see this

hard bulge in my lower abdomen, slightly to the left.

It scared me half to death when I first discovered it.

It gets worse before my period -- after my period is

over, it tends to flatten out a bit.

I guess I'd better get moving on this before I reach

the " can't bend over " stage that some of the other

women have mentioned. I haven't pursued UAE, even

though I'm 99% sure that's the way I want to go,

because I'm so damn scared. <sigh>

I can also feel mine. I have three that are located in

the lining. In fact mine hurts when I touch it. The

one that I feel, feels like the size of grape. Last

year my Gyn stated that it was half the size of my

pinky nail and now my largest is the size of an

orange. I haven't been able to conceive due to the

location of the fibroids and plan on having them

removed by Abdominal Myomectomy sometime in May or

June. When you touch your fibroid do you feel any

Hi Sky -- when I press on mine, I don't feel pain,

just a sense of fullness and pressure. The pain and

cramping tends to be the worst for a week or two

before my period, then as soon as it's over, I have a

couple of good weeks (lucky me). -- a

Hi Debbie,

My fibroid has grown enough that when I lie down on my back and press on my

abdomen gently, I can feel it from top to bottom and side to side. I have

just had an ultrasound done and am awaiting the results, but know already

that the fibroid has grown taller than my navel and is intramural. It

presses down on the ligaments on the left side, right on the hipbone, which

is sometimes painful, and is more prominent and harder right before my

period. So don't worry, it's not a silly question at all but a good

observation..I am finding that I feel better psychologically when I know

these facts and know what I'm touching..it also helps my partner understand

what I'm experiencing. This is quite similar to when my son was a baby and

was diagnosed with a hernia that had to be repaired immediately, and the

doctor took my hand and had me touch the herniated area and all around it,

and then on the other side, had me touch the normal area. It made all the

difference in understanding what was happening.

The way I feel my large fibroid is similar to the way you feel yours, except

mine lies only on one side, only reaches near one hip bone.(I don't know for

sure are you feeling a specific fibroid or the outline of your enlarged uterus).

Also I didn't get such cramps before UAE. If you're lucky the cramps actually

mean the fibroid, or at least part of it, is degenerating spontaneously (but do

have your doctor keep an eye on this).

I actually discovered I had fibroids because I felt a lump. Once I knew what to

feel for, I could feel a couple of my smaller fibroids too. I've read several

messages from women who say they can palpate their fibroids, sometimes even

smaller ones. [And I wrote that sentence before I read the rest of today's

digest which has several similar replies]. It depends partly on where the

fibroids are located.

I think it's coincidence too, but I mostly sleep on my right side and

my largest fibroids are on the right side, much much more prominent

than (at least a couple of) smaller fibroids on the left side. If is

possible that the right side fibroids were getting better blood flow

because of the way I sleep. It would be interesting to do at least a

straw poll on the topic.

Also I read that sleeping on your tummy is recommended for uterine

shrinkage after childbirth. Does this mean we fibroid women should

try it (if we can)? Not good for the neck or the spine, however

For 2 months after UAE I could not lie on my left side at all. It

became very painful. Got easier during the third month.
