Rita,

I would agree that Uniden is a good choice. If you get a phone from

Wal-Mart be sure to keep the receipt. If it is not what you wanted just

take it back within a month.

The warning about loss of power is very valid. Be sure to keep a plain

Jayne phone plugged in at all times just in case...

You do realize when you power goes out so does your cordless phone. I

can't

live without my cell phone, what a gadget for safety. My fav cordless

is

V-tech, and Uniden is a close second, but not one Panasonic I bought

ever

worked. I have phones in every room but only i cordless, so when the

power goes

out I use the others.

After my Thanksgiving visit, I am now converted to a cordless phone.

Mind you not a cell phone. I plan to buy on the open market and not a

phone

adapted for the blind and visually impaired. What would you suggest to

get or stay away from. I do want a volume control for sure!

Suggestions would be welcome thank you!

Dear Girlsgood,

As you didn't sign I don't know your name.

Thank you for this information. You've a good point about the power going

off. Would batteries help?

Rita, Batteries don't help as that kind of phone works on the electricity

coming from it's base. If the base is not getting any power, neither is the

phone.
