Guest guest
My family has never been big veggie eaters, maybe 2 or 3 diff ones. I eat more than them but not to much more, I at least eat salads. I read about the different veggies in the book but to be honest, I dont know what more than half of them look like, much less how to pick ripe or almost ripe ones. An example is asparagus, I have seen ppl talk about eating it, what the heck does it look like? Do you cook it or eat it raw? I asked my mom but she doesnt eat half the veggies on the list either so she doesnt know how to shop for them either. HELPPPP
Guest guest
You can ask the folks who work in the produce department of your grocery store. Also fun is to browse through cookbooks that have pictures. Good luck -- veggies are delicious! :-) -:|:-
Guest guest
Hi Tina & all, Here is a fun website. It is meant for kids, but it is fun and informational. There is a list of the nutrients in some produce and you can click on some of the produce & they will tell you how to buy & cook certain produce items. http://www.dole5aday.com/ReferenceCenter/NutritionCenter/Chart/R_NutrChart.j sp Another great source I found at my Jewel food store (Albertson's owns them). In the produce section, most stores have a podium with a laminated produce guide. I always liked it & then they started selling it. I can't find it online as I am at work & need the ISBN, but it is a great resource: nutrition info, a little about the produce (history, where/how grown), cooking tips, when it is in season, storage & selection information. There are some fruits and veggies in there that I never heard of and I LOVE fruits and veggies! I will post a link later with the title, author & ISBN. > read about the different veggies in the book but to be honest, I dont > know what more than half of them look like, much less how to pick > ripe or almost ripe ones.
