The stupid machine is very temperature sensitive. It gets the least bit

cold or warm and you get that error. this occurs even when it is not always

too warm or too cold. another problem with the Voice Mate.

Hi Everyone When checking my blood this morning I got a temperture error

warning and this is a new one for me but after letting sit for a minute

after putting my strip and lancette back I turned it back on and it seemed

to work fine so does anyone know what that error was for

some times dependent where you keep the voice mate you will git that message. if

the room is a little colder than normal that will happen your friend wayne

Believe me, Bob, if you live in a cold area, you will hear it a lot! I

always used to get it here in CA because I carried around in the car and it

always overheated. the ONe touch does not say it, but according to the

diabetic educator, it gets temperature errors too-it just doesn't say it,

but the glucose level wil not be right.

How much does temperature throw off these meters? Does heat cause them

to read one way and cold the other?

This may put a new light on several things I have noticed over the past

few months.

Thanks much for all of your advice and the sharing of your and others

experiences. It sure does help because the more you learn the better

equipped you are to analyze new situations which often come along when

dealing with Diabetes.

Supposedly, the Voice Mate says " temperature error " when the air is below 70

degrees and above 85. However, this does not always hold true and I have

found that when it says it often when it is not true, there is usually

something else wrong with the machine and you need to call and complain.

Back to the real question, does the temperature also make the readings

inaccurate or has anyone determined this?

P.S. Had I paid more attention to my Grandfather I would have been

called Dr. Clarence Yaholar Selfridge. He was the (for real) chief

Medicine Man for the Muskogee Creek Nation.

My father's name was Clarence Yaholar Selfridge but, in the early 1900s

it was very unpopular to be an American Indian so he changed his name

when he became of age in 1921. Everyone called him " C.Y. " anyway)

I can also assure you that Grandfather did not dress in either whites or

wear skulls around his neck. His knowledge of herbs, plants, insects and

such was truly phenomenal.

It is a real shame that much of his knowledge was lost. His brother was

not nearly the source of information that Grandfather was. In fact,

Rubin would probably fit the term " Quack " to a tee.

take it and it will say 120 and a minute later it might say 100. So you

really don't know which reading to believe. Rw

What machine do you have? Crystal uses the Ultra Smart and it seems to

work fairly well. She also has the Ultra One Touch and an Elite. The

Elite consistently gives lower reading by about 10%. The Ultras are

within three or four point of each other.

If we get a really screwy reading Crystal will use another meter to see

what is going on. Sometimes she discovers that the first machine was

right on (oops! - frowney face)

I have threatened her with either or and she looks very

contrite.

I told her that I had investigated and found that she was an

iron **** retired Army Nurse who was feared by all during WW II.

I also told her that I didn't even want to talk about since he

was so fatigued with the new arrival.
