If you take insulin as Melinda does, get a note from your doctor so when you go through security, you won't have any problems when they see the needles. My glucometer is always with me in my backpack whenever I travel. I've never had any problems. But if you leave it in your checked baggage rather than on your person, things like this can and do happen. My Acu-check voice box broke also and I received the new one today. It strted turning itself off and then on again with my not touching anything. I have probably had either it or both parts of the machine replaced at no cost 6 times in the 3 years I have had one.
