If you take insulin as Melinda does, get a note from your doctor so when you go through security, you won't have any problems when they see the needles. My glucometer is always with me in my backpack whenever I travel. I've never had any problems. But if you leave it in your checked baggage rather than on your person, things like this can and do happen. It strted turning itself off and then on again with my not touching anything. I have probably had either it or both parts of the machine replaced at no cost 6 times in the 3 years I have had one.
