Guest guest
Nice pointing out the excessive calories, but why was he PUSHING those fake food alternatives? I'd propose staying within the same category of the survey to find your healthier alternatives. At Starbucks you can make the mocha less calories by cutting down on the chocolate pumps (I only use 1 pump in a Grande), use nonfat milk (or I use half soy/half nonfat) and no whip. There *is* nutrition. Nothing " healthy " at Five Guys (I dislike the strong peanut oil flavor anyway). But let's find a healthier similar meal (i.e. find another burger meal so you are matching the category). How about a steak bowl at Chipotle? Get beef & rice & beans & tomatoes & lettuce, but you're still getting beef. Alternative to the french fries from McDs? Instead of a processed food bar from that company, let's suggest veggie sticks and/or a fruit bowl from a grocery store. Holly ---------- Holly Lee Brewer, MS RD CDE Pediatric Dietitian, Diabetes Educator Medical Nutrition Therapist, Las Vegas, NV Maj Holly Brewer, USAFR BSC http://hollyinbalad.blogspot.com 301st MDS, NAS JRB Fort Worth (Carswell), TX Joint Base Balad, Iraq (Jan-Jul 2009) ________________________________ To: rd-usa Sent: Sat, September 11, 2010 4:23:23 PM Subject: Re: Have you read Zagat's Fast-Food Survey 2010?  Hi , Yes, I like both of those and here is a good video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hna-9rVBthc > Hey at least Panera Bread and Chipotle made the top 2...healthier choices > right? > > On Sat, Sep 11, 2010 at 5:57 PM, Weaver wrote: > >> >> >> Sharing..............Thoughts?????? >> >> http://www.zagat.com/FASTFOOD >> >> -- >> Thanks, Weaver MS RD LD Medical Nutritionist/Medical >> Assistant http://www.linkedin.com/pub/6/833/688 >> http://www.mdrdtherapy.com Medifast Take Shape For Life! Guest guest
Medifast is not fake food. It is PCMR made with soy or whey and if you want the nutrition info, I shall send it to your private email. I eat Medifast and love it:) Take Shape For Life is getting people off medications and away from surgery! It is the fastest growing Health Program and Weight Program in America at this time. > > > Nice pointing out the excessive calories, but why was he PUSHING those fake > food > alternatives? Guest guest
I always liked what an endocrinologist I worked with said " I don't care how they lose weight as long as they do it once and keep it off. But they don't and that is why going on too many fad diets over a lifetime is unhealthy " . He was very RD and utilized our services all of the time. Like , I really sit the fence with the bypass surgeries. I don't tend to watch The Biggest Loser but I saw a promo that said they had a post-gastric bypass surgery patient on. Once you have had the surgery you have altered your " insides " . I have friend who has so many problems post-bypass surgery that I have become so skeptical. Her problems are NOT fixable.
I don't have the answers!! On Sat, Sep 11, 2010 at 9:04 PM, Weaver wrote: > Medifast is not fake food. Guest guest
, I have to respectfully disagree with your statement that " Medifast is not fake food. " I sure don't call the following " real " food. Surely there's a lot of ingredients there my grandmother wouldn't recognize. Neither would my mother. Since when is " artificial flavors " and " acesulfame potassium " and " cellulose gel " not " fake food? " Clearsly, none of them grow in my garden or can be found at my local farmer's market, and I won't find any of them in " the perimeter of my grocery store " either. I guess I've seen plenty of Medifast failures, that regained all their weight - but, that happens in most wt. loss " diets " I acknowledge. Why not eat real food and take a vitamin/mineral supplement just in pill form? I'm sure that all the highly processed and artificial ingredients are why I found the flavors so unacceptable. Guest guest
I think most Americans would be surprised at how little soy is eaten on a daily basis compared to what Americans are encouraged to think they should eat. it is also mostly fermented soy products again verses what we in the US eat. Then there is the GMO issue. So it is really no true comparison. We are pushing soy to much. I refused to use a soy analog for my emergency supplies despite the food police because unless you eat it regularly introducing it into a diet as the sole protein source will cause gastric distress. We tend only to read the right side what ever that is at the time and forget that there is a flip side. I doubt that the amount of soy products eaten in Asia is significant to cause feminization. Guest guest
Jan, With the new Take Shape For Life Medifast, I have seen no failures and these foods need no or little prep..... Most people eat on the run and have no refrigeration available. I have a youth minister who uses the bars instead of grabbing junk items at the airport. I have a patient that does not drive or cook! I have a patient right now that is in bed due to a knee injury and waiting for a MRI results! He is not able to get around. Medifast is not for everyone but it helps most people in a variety of situations. Their bars are better than any other bars on the market because they have pro needed with our having to pack a egg or cheese. As a RD, I offer this a a choice to my patients, BTW, all the RDs and Docs that are using in their patient populations are amazed at the results their patients are having! An ER doc told one of my patients that it saved his life. I do not have one patient that uses all natural foods. Bottom line this program is saving lives and getting people off medications including insulin. People are getting healthy on this program! They are having more success than anything on the market right now. Dr Andersen is the greatest and you should read his book. I have over 40 doc and they said, " I can get behind this program and this Dr A. " This is not just about the Medifast's fast foods which are just a tool. > > > , > > I have to respectfully disagree with your statement that " Medifast is not > fake food.
