Oh, my goodness! Luana, what a horrible story! I am so sorry that you and your

family had to go thru that trauma and you lost your sister! I remember how many

of my friends had tonsilectomies and was always so grateful I never had one bc

of my fears of needles and surgeries, yet, my grandmother was always insisting

that's what I should have bc of my asthma attacks that required adrenaline shots

and O2.......... phew! I was lucky.

I know that it was really hard on my parents and grandparents. It was long

before I was born. My parents also a 2 year old boy when it happened. This

sister was always talked about and I could really have used a sister more

than once in my life. My 27 year old son just had the tonsillectomy and a

bunch of other surgery in that area. I felt I should have been with him,

but was extremely grateful that he asked but to come the day after the

surgery. I didn't want him to see my fear. For him it was a great choice.

He sleeps and can actually rest and doesn't sound like a freight train going

through the house all night. So, maybe it is like so much of what we do, we

have to remember medicine as well as nutrition is not a one size fits all.

don't spell it " wholistic " . I've always thought it would be a more accepted

belief/practice if it were spelle my way. I think many people think

holistic = eastern religion, medicine, etc. and therefore it's weird and

unChristian or something.

That's my $ .02 worth about holistic/wholistic. Can I trademark " wholistic "

and get rich??? :)

Oh I thought I would hurt myself laughing!... it's funny to hear how

something is unChristian and then debate whether Christiainizing it is

profitable.

But I so appreciate the candor and wry humor there, ..... We have so

Actually, I used " holistic " since that's what the person posting the

original email used.

I think the more accurate/current/correct term is now " functional " or

" integrative " . . . holistic has tended to go the wayside amongst MDs, DOs and

many

RDs. Oh, and " unchristian " ? That IS funny.

Jan

PS. I'd love to see a study done on obesity and various religion, after I

attended some " Christian Science " services and didn't see one overweight

people, but attended many Evangelical. Free services with major obesity amongst

it's members. (Not, my comparison was also East Coast Suburban vs. Colorado,

and may just have been a regional thing.

Glad I could make you laugh :) . I wasn't thinking about making it

Christianized to make a profit, but I guess it could read that way! No,

just being unemployed (well, actually employed at 75% as of two days ago,

but won't be really working for another 10 days, I'm always thinking about

money :) People would ask me what I wanted to do after my internship and

I'd say, find a good job and get rich, rich, rich. They would just laugh

and say I'm in the wrong profession.

I know I should never have a small business because I feel sorry for the

people buying or, in the case of the plants that need a home, the plants,

and tend to just want to give things away to good homes. I think it's good

I realize this about myself and not attempt to own a business!

But, I really do think it should be wholistic, not holistic. Maybe I think

that because of my piano teacher chuckling over my theory homework when I

was 7 and spelled whole note as " hole note " . At least I learned and

remember how to spell and use whole! So, can I trademark " wholistic " ? :)

Actually, I have seen it spelled both ways, but I always assumed holistic

was more directed to include complementary and alternative medicine.

Actually, I have seen it spelled both ways, but I always assumed holistic

was more directed to include complementary and alternative medicine.

Hm; , maybe you should look into working for a non-profit

organization...

To find out if 'wholistic' is available for trademark (which differs

from state and federal), you would go to either the state or federal

trademark website and simply do a search! My guess is that just the WORD

might be available... Here's the fed site to play around in:
