Water Softener/Purification System and Autism

Hi, all.

A water softener salesman is trying to convince us to spend $4,000 on

a water softening/filtration system. One of the selling points is

that it filters out all of the heavy metals from the water supply. I

don't mind doing it if it would help our son, but I am highly

skeptical, and sick of being taken advange of by all of the snake oil

salesmen out there who prey on us parents with special needs kids.

Anyone out there know if this system would be at all helpful in

chelating?
