Guest guest Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 I haven't been seen by a Neuropsychologist. Maybe I should. How are you doing? Did you get an appointment with the neuro in Denver?Sharon I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering. Neuropsychologist Hello everyone! I have been so busy lately. My MIL has been visiting from Chicago since Wednesday. She goes home this afternoon. I just finished reading a wonderfully informative book. Facing the Cognitive Challenges of Multiple Sclerosis by Jeffery N. Gingold. Anyway, it has been about 3yrs since my Dx & I've noticed these types of changes in me in the last 2yrs. I am going to make an appt with a neuropsychologist to have cognitive testing done. Has anyone else had this done? E. Colorado Check out the new AOL. Guest guest Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 Yes, I saw a neuropsych this past Feb. It is an exhausting battery of tests. I think I was there the entire day from like 9 am to 4pm, with a break for lunch. Memory tests, sequencing, spatial relation type testing, I forget them all. My neurologist is thinking I should perhaps go on Aricept--that is what my dad is on for his Alzheimer's--I do NOT want to be on anymore meds! Besides, how do i know for certain that the meds I'm on aren't affecting my cognition? Just make certain you have gotten a really good night's sleep the night before you go for the tests. Guest guest Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I see the neuropsychologist on Jan 3rd & the neuro on Jan 9th. They are both in Denver. I talked with the women in my support group here in town & they said they had better results from Drs in Denver. We are in the middle of a blizzard today. The airports have shut down. Thank God this happpened after my MIL went home!! I think the stress of her being here flared up a bunch of symptoms. I have slurred my words & when I'm not doing that I am word switching constantly. Sometimes I catch it & other times people tell me. Then last night I was watching TV & my arms got really cold feeling & then some tingling & then numbness. I woke up this morning & it was better but my left arm is still weak. E. Colorado Re: Neuropsychologist I haven't been seen by a Neuropsychologist. Maybe I should. How are you doing? Guest guest Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 I do crossword puzzles all the time & play my Scrabble game on the computer. I feel alot better doing that. I do have days though where I feel really foggy & don't even attempt to do them. I've read that doing crosswords or things of that nature help exercise your brain function. E. Colorado Re: Neuropsychologist My major problems right now are cognitive. I had the neuropsych test done last year (expensive test for me doing all the work It was interesting to see how my brain played out. I also learned how impaired my dexterity has become. I had a lot of problems putting the little pegs in the holes. This is going to sound incredibly boastful...so NOT humble. But it's a terrible blow to the ego to learn you are not so smart anymore. Even my best scores were just "average". I have never been average in memory associated learning. Gosh, I was the a runner up in the state spelling bee at 14. 23 years later, spellcheck is my best friend. I have a great case for disability since my degree is in accounting and I've worked all these years with numbers and now can't even balance my checkbook. This is why I think we should start an MS online game playing group. Playing games like scrabble, or soduko really help me. Or at least they make me feel better and give me something to do at 1am and I can give my hubby the excuse "I'm fighting my MS". Ha! Mindy > > > > > Hello everyone! I have been so busy lately. > E. > Colorado > > > --------------------------------- > Check out the new AOL. Guest guest Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 I know...I had lost 20 IQ points. I was 136 in school and now am in the normal range at 116. It definitely showed the changes 'mindythores wrote: My major problems right now are cognitive. Ha!Mindy> > > > > Hello everyone! I have been so busy lately. My MIL has been visiting from Chicago since Wednesday. She goes home this afternoon. I just finished reading a wonderfully informative book. Guest guest Posted December 22, 2006 Report Posted December 22, 2006 I noticed this summer during my exacerbation i could not do my word problems because i couldn,t remember the words. Now I'm doing them again but i still have some problems with word recognition. 'lissa252000@... wrote: I do crossword puzzles all the time & play my Scrabble game on the computer. I feel alot better doing that. I do have days though where I feel really foggy & don't even attempt to do them. I've read that doing crosswords or things of that nature help exercise your brain function. E.Colorado Re: Neuropsychologist My major problems right now are cognitive.
