Guest guest Posted September 29, 2001 Report Share Posted September 29, 2001 , I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. :-( It took me 3 and a half weeks from news of the baby's demise before the miscarriage began. It was definitely complete after 4 days, and bleeding definitely slowed after that. I was told to expect very heavy bleeding, and it was quite heavy as I passed the sac and the majority of uterine lining--heavier than a heavy period. This lasted only an hour or two, though, and I don't think I soaked a pad in an hour. That is the standard they always tell you: if you soak a maxi pad in an hour or less, come in, because you may be hemorrhaging. And bleeding may pick up suddenly 3-5 days after the miscarriage has begun, whether from activity or the need to get rid of more tissue . . . it all depends. This may be strange, but I bought a pack of preemie Pampers and used them during heavy bleeding. They are excellent, in my opinion, never spilling once, even at night, during very heavy flow.
