Dear All

HIV/AIDS is a Social Problem not a mere health problem, To generate a feeling of

ownership among panchayath members, we have to set up a “CELL” or “BODY” in all

panchayath in India. Initial activities may be “ SOFT TARGETTED INTERVENTION”

and “Family Health Awarness Program through panchayth. Panchayath Preseident

Will be the Chairman and a selected ward member will be the secretary. A

Separate Bank Account may be for this cell in order to attract funds from

Government, Donors, Sponsorship etc. Anganwadi Workers may Ex-Officio workers

for these cells

Anganwadi worker means for Non-formal pre-school education. She/he is also

trained in various aspects of health, nutrition and child development. The main

duties of anganwadi worker are -

·Non-formal pre-school education.

·Regular health check-up.

·Immunization.

·Health education.

The anganwadi workers are continuously burdened with extra work and Government

machinery always recognizes their effort in implementing various Government

initiatives. Government had in fact agreed in principal that the anganwadi

worker would be paid extra money for extra work assigned by the Government. But

in many cases it is not materialized

As per NACO Guidelines, State SACS has to provide specific one day HIV/AIDS

training for Anganwadi workers. Majority of the SACS already train about 1000

Anganwadi workers and will be touched about 2000-3000 at the end of this

financial year.

Your valuable advice is required
