Guest guest
You don't have to follow the meal plans that are listed in the book. Just eat food from the "allowed" list and you'll do fine. I think the meal plans are there just to give you an idea of what a good breakfast, lunch, dinner would look like. Guest guest
Hi Ivy, I am new to the diet also and also have about 15 pounds to lose. I find that the last 20 pounds are always the hardest to get off. I am on day 8 and have lost a little over 6 pounds. I haven’t incorporated exercise into my days yet because I really haven’t been feeling very “strong” lately. I have had many of the “detox” type symptoms like the naseau and the fatigue. I have been following the diet with no cheating. I don’t eat all the recipes that they suggest in the book. I take the list of acceptable foods and make my meals from that. I did make the ricotta crème desserts, which we love and a couple of others. I am looking forward to making some “healthy eating” buddies….. ~Lori From: ivy_seeds Sent: Monday, April 05, 2004 11:24 PM To: South-Beach-Diet-Getting-It-Right Subject: New bie in Corona Calif Hi, I'm new to the group. I've had the book for two months now... finally today I started the diet. I did well - I adjusted the menu to fit what I had in the kitchen, switching day 3's breakfast to, today... is that okay to do? couple of questions: I have about 10 lbs to loose. I gained weight back after I stopped nursing my last child. Are there any other folks that needed to loose about 10 or so pounds? And, can we switch the food around like I did today? Switching one day's lunch for another? Plus, I don't eat fish or read meat, so hopefully subsituting turkey or chicken will do? Thanks, and I'm hoping for a good day tomorrow. Ivy Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones-and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats. Guest guest
Welcome, Ivy!! I have to lose a *whole lot* more than you. I don't follow the exact meal plans at all in the book, or many of the recipes. I have the approved food list, and decide what to eat from there. I actually did Phase 1 for 18 days, and lost 14 pounds total during that time. But, I need to lose around 100 pounds total. I get most of my recipes from other websites. I find many of the recipes in the actual book to be more complicated, and they have ingredients that I don't already have. I like simple ones! As long as you are getting what you need daily (and not having too much of something)... you can make up your own daily plan. That might make it easier than trying to duplicate each day in the book. But, some people like the structure of following the exact meals in the book. They are there as an example of what to eat. Good luck! New bie in Corona Calif > Hi, I'm new to the group.
