My DH and I are on the Beach, and we have an 8yo son who is on the Beach by default. He eats sandwiches for lunch, and the occasional cookie at church, but mostly he eats what we eat. The food is really tasty, and I've found that a lot of family favorites are either already good for the Beach or easy to tweek and make them so. Try looking at some of your family's favorite dishes and see if you can make them South Beach Friendly. -- Ann You spend your life fighting dirt, and when you die they bury you in it. hayakawa@... Guest guest
You don't have to go by the Menu plan in the book either. Most of what We make is tweaked. I took the " approved " foods, and made it for the entire family and played with things. We have pork chops, chicken, Turkey, veggies, salads, eggs, yogurt, etc. etc. I guess I'm also one of those parents who doesn't have the time, energy or the will power to be a " short Order " cook for my family. If I'm making a meal, the family can either eat what I cook for dinner, or they can make it themselves. LOL I have a 14 year old and a 6 year old by a previous marriage who live with their dad right now. When my 14 year old daughter was 8, I taught her how to cook simple stuff so that if she decided that she didn't want what was for dinner or breakfast, she could make something different. By the time she was 9, she could make pancakes, regular cakes, scrambled eggs with veggies, real mac and cheese (Not the boxed kind) and spaghetti with red sauce. LOL. Terri B.
