Guest guest
The Omlette or the home fries could have gluten in them OR there could be contamination from other things cooked on the same skillet or griddle. I know IHOP puts wheat in their eggs and omlettes, although you said it was not a chain, but just for the future good to know. ita
Guest guest
I would wonder about the possibility of a pan or pot not being cleaned well or w/ the prep... ) Jen Possible Attack It is possible that the reason I was up last night and sick to my stomach with diarrea is that I accidentally consumed gluten. The only meal I know where this could have happed (yesterday) is lunch at a restaurant (non-chain). I will list what I ate and if anyone can give me ideas about hidden gluten please do so, it is also possible this wasn't a gluten attack but it felt like one.Lunch:Omlete (egg whites, roasted red peppers, carmalized onion, low fat cheddar cheese)Carmel Latte (expresso, carmel, whipped cream)Home fries (thin potato slice cooked and spiced)NO BAGEL OR MUFFINWaterAny ideas at all would be appreciated. Guest guest
, You would have to check with the restaurant, but some put pancake batter into the omelet mix to make it turn out fluffier. Guest guest
Cross contamination is always an issue, especially at restaurants. Salt and pepper can actually contain gluten, frequently gluten is used to keep shakable spices separated and " shakable " . Also, other things can contain gluten like toothpaste. The caramel color in some sodas contains gluten (most do not but there are a few store brands). There is gluten in cosmetics as well. I am incredably sensative as any minute amount of gluten makes me as sick as if I went and ate a sandwhich! Not everyone is that highly sensative though. It is also quite possible that A. you have an issue with dairy and/or soy (the proteins are very similar to gluten and in some people when the body is damaged enough it loses the ability to distinguish between the three); or B. you had gluten through consumption or cross contamination. Eating out is a cross contamination nightmare, so from my perspective I would not recommend eating out anywhere that does not have a designated gluten free menu, or does not know about gluten. Still another possiblitiy is that you had gluten earlier in the week. When I have gluten, I'm sick for at least a week no matter what I eat! I hope your feeling better! & Emmy > It is possible that the reason I was up last night and sick to my > stomach with diarrea is that I accidentally consumed gluten.
