Guest guest
What is everyone's stats on this diet for the first month on average? I know on Atkins I had lost 17 lbs in two months. I have been losing just over a pound a week. I started on Jan 20 and have lost 19.5 pounds so far! Slow and steady and I am so happy to be this much lighter. Guest guest
... I think it depends upon how much you have to lose. But, I have lost 21 pounds in 6 weeks with South Beach. But, I also need to lose 100 more pounds. PLus, my eating habits were horrible before starting. So, I am sure I lost more because of that as well. What I like about South Beach is that for me, it is something I can do for a lifetime. I looked at Atkins, but it was too extreme for me. There is not a lot of restrictions on how much you can have, except for some fats (like nuts) and dairy. Otherwise, eat! It is important that you get your meals AND snacks. Don't starve! (and you won't, cuz you can eat so much food!) There is no counting calories, which I LOVE. You have your approved foods list, and there you go! You can make it up as you go along. Most important... get at least 5 cups of veggies a day (especially during Phase 1). The other recommendation is to focus on eating nothing with transfats (no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated items), eat lowfat dairy (like cheese, milk (2 servings of milk allowed per day), etc.) and lower fat cuts of meat. Full fat dressings and mayo are acceptable, since often the lower fat varieties are higher in sugar (these things should not be overconsumed, of course) OH, and once you are in Phase 2... things like bread need to be whole wheat grain only. South Beach is wonderful! You can get even more info from www.southbeachdiet.com Guess I am > going to have to go buy the book and some cookbooks on this stuff. > I kind of get the gist.
