Guest guest
Hello everyone, My son turned 4 last August and of course his doctor is pushing for his vaccines: Dtap (Kline) IPV (Aventis) MMR (Merck) She says there is no mercury in these......my little boy is finally beginning to talk, he has come a long long way in the last 3-4 months.....I'm scared to do it but my husband is worried about polio and he thinks we should at least do that one.....I personally never noticed any drastic changes when he was vaccinated before.....but I've read so many things and how subtle the changes can be..... I know this is a tough and personal question....I just want to get your input/opinions/experiences....... Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Guest guest
I had the same concerns for my son and my DAN! doctor suggested we do bloodwork to see if he is already immune. And he was, thank goodness. If he had not been, we probably would have done the shots with our DAN! doctor, but he would have made sure they were thimerisol-free and he would have separated the MMR. Guest guest
A very tricky topic, I would recommend to test for titers prior to giving any further vaccines if you feel hesitant. If you test positive for immunity then leave it alone, if not then you are back to square one in trying to determine if you should go ahead and give boosters. On a side note, MMR never contained thimerosal it is a live vaccine, while no thimerosal due to it being a live virus it is recommended to give them separately. Good luck with your decision, seems to be a frequent question on this list. Beth Vataker A Safer Vaccine Protocol Important * Do Not Give Vaccines to Sick Children! * Separate Vaccines in Time * Use Thimerosal Free Vaccines * Separate M, M, and R vaccines * Give Vitamin C and Vitamin A before vaccinations Vaccine Schedule * At Birth -- Hepatitis B only if Mom is Hepatitis B positive * 4 months -- Hib, IPV * 5 months -- DTaP * 6 months -- Hib, IPV * 7 months -- DTaP * 8 months -- Hib * 9 months -- DTaP * 15 months - Measles * 17 months - Hib, IPV * 18 months - DTaP * 24 months - Prevnar * 27 months - Rubella * 30 months - Mumps * 4 - 5 years - Varicella (if not immune already) * 4 - 5 years - Hepatitis B Series (Note: Dr. Cave is not a fan of this) * 4 - 5 years - DTap, IPV boosters * 4 - 5 years - Test titers for M, M & R and do not give unless not immune! Immunize only for vaccines found to be negative! Other Important Considerations on Vaccines * Educate Yourself * Get Copies of Your State Laws * Do Not Be Intimidated by Medical Personnel * Monitor Your Child for Adverse Events Following Vaccinations * Report an Event to the Doctor, NVIC and Vaers * Ask for and Read Carefully the Package Insert (Insure NO Thimerosal) * Do not use DTP from the following companiesPasteur Merieux, Connaught, Sanofi Wynn , Aventis Pasteur *Insure Rhogam for Rh-negative Mothers Do Not Contain Thimerosal Vaccine Exemptions * The exemptions allowed under the law fall within the categories of medical, religious and philosophical. * Medical exemptions may include allergies to constituents of vaccines or immunocompromise. * Philosophical Exemption - Arizona, California, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, New Mexico, N. Conference Spring 2005 Syllabus by Dr. Cave Parents - Help Prevent Vaccine Reactions - If You Vaccinate, Ask Eight: 1) Is my child sick right now? 2) Has my child had a bad reaction to a vaccination before? 3) Does my child have a personal or family history of: * vaccine reactions * convulsions or neurological disorders * severe allergies * immune system disorders 4) Do I know if my child is at a high risk of reacting? 5) Do I know how to identify a vaccine reaction? 6) Do I know how to report a vaccine reaction? 7) Do I know the vaccine manufacturer's name and lot number? 8) Do I know I have a choice?
