Oh, Deb, here's a big hug for you.

We can tinker with this thing some more. Now, personally, I would say keep the cereal in the morning just to get started off right after fasting all night ( "break fast", remember?, LOL), but cut back on some fruit during the day. I counted 3 servings there.

And keep peanuts if you want to as long as you stay within the allowed number (15?). This is what's great about lists - you get lots of conflicting opinions!

Are you using Metamucil before meals to lower the GI of the foods?

I gained 15 pounds in one month due to Vioxx - ravenous hunger. Try to keep filled up on lean proteins and veggies - don't use the carbs to get full. And remember, eat enough. You said you weren't eating a lot and that's a common pitfall. Hunger also makes you cheat.

Hang in there - let us know how you are doing!

Ok, I was sure my thyroid medicine needed to be changed and that is why I can't lose weight. I was part right. But instead of increasing it, I am decreasing the dosage because now I have hyperthyroidism instead of hypo. This sucks. The side effect is supposed to be weight loss. Or weight gain brought on by increased appetite. I have not been eating much at all, and still I can't lose. Some man on another site I go to some time told me to cut out the cereal for breakfast and not to eat peanuts because they are too high in calories. Foods today: 2 hard boiled eggs, string cheese with a slice of shaved roast beef wrapped around it, a small can of V8\Lunch: salad with egg and 2 cherry tomatoes, vinagrette, 2 string cheese sticks, an orange, nofat no sugar yogurt with blueberries. Then I cheated and had 2 valentine cookies.Home--sugar free fat free hot chocolate and 5 dried apricots. Still starving, 2 sugarfree pbutter cookies--natural p butter, splenda and 1 egg. I don't know what dinner will be. I am tired and cranky. I think I could be an example on this diet as a failure even though I have hardly eaten wrong at all. I wanted to lose a pound a week and have hardly lost at all since Christmas. Next month my stepdaughter is getting married and I want to look good. I was hoping to be a 12 by then, but it looks like I am not going to make it. WHine whine whine. No wonder I like cheese--a little play on words there LOL. Thanks for your kind words! I just ate 3 strawberries before I read this. I thought if the book said "good" that meant I could have as much as I wanted, so I haven't been counting anything.

I just went grocery shopping and restocked up on SB acceptable foods. I am planning to eat all bran for breakfast. THe eggs just don't do it for me.

I don't know if I should do the metamucil because Ihave to take a prescription laxative everyday and it could cause problems. Metamucil never worked for me in the intended use!

I am so thankful to have this site to vent in. Hugs back. Deb

When I talked to the SBD representative about not losing, she suggested

cutting out the cheese and nuts. She said some people are different

from others, and need to do this to lose better. I'd try fish and

chicken breast and lots of raw veggies (with some beans for fiber) and

your oils and see if it works better for you. What i have done to

finally start losing, is combine the SBD WOE with counting the WW

Points. Good luck!

I interpret the "Good" for proteins and veggies to mean that I can eat till I'm satisfied with them. But for carbs, it just means that they are acceptable, and you have to determine how much of them you can eat by adding them slowly - maybe a couple of servings a day. Then see how they affect you - do theymake you start craving things or go on a binge? Do they stop your loss in its tracks?

I was just thinking that your carbs all seemed to be fruit and maybe you should shake that up a bit.

Everyone is different, so it works out differently.

Prolly should give the Metamucil a miss, tho! LOL

My understand is that Metamucil is just flavored psyllium fiber so

it is really just adding fiber to your system. Ask your doctor IF he

thinks extra fiber would be overkill. The main thing is to be sure

you drink enough water. The water is just as important to keep

things " moving " as the fiber.
