Certainly one could say diabetes is a disease over which one is " powerless " ; but where on earth does doing a moral inventory and asking God to remove " character defects " fit in?? Are they claiming that diabetes is not a medical disease after all, but a condition resulting from moral turpitude? Seems to me joining this wackadoo cult just produces a guilt-laden, meetings-obsessed diabetic, certainly not a " recovering " anything!! Guest guest Posted July 30, 1999 Report Share Posted July 30, 1999 HI Rita This tendency of the 12sp to split off into weird forms, dealing with non-addictive diseases or even non-existent diseases such as " Sexaholism " , which is imo the strongest evidence that it is irrelevant to addiction recovery and the disease concept is a myth. AAs are themselves so far gone that they cant even understand this point when I make it to them.
