I've been told that they at the first sign of fever, they shouldn't try to keep going, but should go to bed and drink lots of gatorade. Guest guest
Wow, , My son has autism . This is his history that you mention. He almost always just shuts down his sensory system, stops eating and regresses with a virus/bacterial infection/and ??reasons. Do you really think this is a characteristic of mito?? Honestly, and this is so exciting for me, since we started treating with this vitamin concoction for suspected mito ( can't get the darn test done) he has escaped the major epidemics going around school. He did get sick but he never shut down and he still ate. This is the first time in his life(he's almost 9) that I can say that. Is there documentation somewhere that says poor immune system goes with mito. Very interested. Guest guest
, I thought of that and wondered how do they do that? What is weird is that the whole time Connie was preg. with him she was always puking and it was at night-not morning. And ever since she has had somewhat a problem with it. Then lo and behold it is HIS problem too! How do they check that? Anyone ever notice how pregnant symptoms " pass on " to the infant almost like it was the infant causing those particular symptoms? Like this & certain cravings that you have and then that child wants the same things when born or growing up? S. Guest guest
Kathy, this is what I'm saying-that mito patients have a weakened immune system. I think has more than he can handle living in that house, the industrial chemicals around them and the carpet and the stress from a high strung mom, etc. I think he is either catching every bug or just getting off balance chemically and puking, stuffy, etc. Wish they could get moved-$ is an issue here to move. I remember growing up every time something exciting came along I got sick and missed it. I think the excitement was like the last straw for my mito body. S. Guest guest
, They can check for reflux a few different ways, but the easiest is probably with an upper GI where the person drinks some barium and then they take an xray. It will show usually if there's reflux. I had severe heartburn while pregnant with Branden and he has severe reflux. He's having a Nissen fundoplication on April 1st with g-tube at the same time to get rid of all his eating and reflux problems- well we hope it will get rid of them anyway. Talk to the doctor about it. Good luck

Guest guest
, I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but I know that when my daughter (who has mito. disease) gets a cold or the flu it hits her twice as hard as anyone around her. It also takes her longer to get over the sickness. Becky-mom of anyone please respond I need to know if these posts I send which originate with me actually go onto the list. I think not but I thought changing to this onelist was going to fix that problem. Also, my real need is if anyone knows if getting the " flu " so often is maybe 's electrolytes imbalancing from stress (physical and/or emotional) as part of the mito and not really the flu. This kid (4 yrs) pukes so much and it takes him forever to get over it. Since several family members have had the puking for no discernable reason issue I am wondering if is just worse about it. Also, how could the Dr. check the difference or could anyone tell? S.
