Deb,

Ypu may have the weird weight loss pattern I have. I have lost about 15 since the first of October. I only lost 4 on Ph 1. I go along with no loss for 3 0r 4 weeks, then WHAM! 5 pounds.

Do you have "not so much" to lose? If so, you will lose slower.

Are you eating enough, including carbs? If not, your metabolism will slow down and cause your body to hoard.

Are you still eating snacks? Try to spread your eating oout over the entire day to keep your metabolism fired up and your insulin steady.

Good luck to you - I know I have been very envious of others' losses.

Y

How come everyone else is losing bigger amounts?

I am curious as to why most of you are losing so much more than I am. I have only lost about 9 pounds since the first part of November. I will give myself the benefit of not gaining over Christmas, but now it is a month later. I really am sticking with this, not cheating at all. Yes, my clothes are looser (just a little), yes I feel better, but I am reading some amazing results here and am very envious! I can't blame my age (52) because some of you are older, so what is my problem??? .....I'm just venting a little. Thanks for reading! DebReminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones-and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats. Thanks for the message, ! I am hoping for the WHAM weeks you mentioned :) No, I don't have a lot to lose if 20 pounds is not a lot. I wear a 14 and want to get to a 12 and not have to buy extra large everything. I have a little trouble snacking because I teach 5th grade. We don't have lunch until 12 and school starts at 8:10. I put a jar of peanuts in my locker but it is hard to sneak them with kids around most of the time. I know I don't eat enough sometimes, but I am not super hungry either so I figured that was a sign that I had enough. Deb

That last 20, 15 or 10 pounds are indeed the hardest. Your loss will probably be slower than someone who is trying to lose more. I wanted to lose 25.

If you want to make a change (not saying you NEED to), try working in the snacks, hungry or not. Maybe cut back on regular meals. I tried a program a couple of years ago that I believe was very healthy and well-balanced but just too restrictive for normal humans. However, I dropped weight like a rock for as long as I could stay on it. The main thrust was to fire up your metabolism by eating several (6 - 8) small meals per day. It really did work.

Anyway, good luck!
