Guest guest
Terri, Okay, I was just curious if I was the only one on the loop with a lot to lose. Of course I know that 10 pounds is a lot too for some people so I don't belittle that at all. Good luck to you and remember you can do this. Re: question , I do. Guest guest
My DW had the same problem. I made her eat a small bowl of high fibre all bran cereal (about 1/3 cup). It was just enough to get her back on track. She has a bowl about once a week now. Your problem sounds a bit more severe. While I wasn't constipated I had difficult, painful movements. What worked for me was drinking lots more water. If that didn't work, I'd be looking for a stool softener. (I had this problem too after open heart surgery due to all the narcotics I was on and stool softener made the difference.) Considering your rapid loss, are you still on Phase 1? > I've been on this diet for about 2 months, i lost nearly 45 lbs. I > was 285, and now i'm about 240. I'm 22, 6' 1 " . Guest guest
How about taking fish oil or even better flax seed oil capsules. Or, if you can stand it, downing a spoonful of the real flax oil. You can get that at a health food store, but I've seen it at Wal-Mart. -Olena b_owen_ca wrote: My DW had the same problem. I made her eat a small bowl of high fibre all bran cereal (about 1/3 cup). Guest guest
When they figure out the poverty level do they factor in assistance people are getting for example Food stamps (SNAP), WIC, housing assistance, etc.. I know the recent " food insecurity " data was not very scientific and misleading - they just asked if anyone was worried about running out of food - not actually running out of food. Guest guest
Definitely consider medical Marijuana. Clearly helpful for many cancer patients. (The nearest community has more Medical Marijuana sales outlets than it does liquor stores. Of course, I'm in Colorado.) Mountain Daylight Time, jennyvajda@... writes: Ginger in any form helps with digestion as well as pain. It also is anti cancer, antiviral, antibiotic and anti worm/parasite. The candied ginger from a health food store is good and ginger powder can be sprinkled on foods or in tea or coffee for a zingy dose. It is available in capsules too. A study on arthritis pain used a half teaspoon dose and it was found as effective as ibuprofen and the use of both was more effective than either alone. A half teaspoon is quite a bit for someone who isn't used to it, but a sprinkle on a few different foods or beverages can add up. I find a couple of the candied ginger cubes very helpful if I'm feeling queasy or gassy. The juice or root used in cooking would also be effective. I have had fibromyalgia problems and a little osteoarthritis. I find it helpful for pain and digestion. I'm so used to it's flavor kick that the family groans when I taste meals and say yet again, " It needs more ginger " . R Vajda, R.D. Guest guest
I believe Remeron is considered an anti-depressant with occassionally a side effect of increasing appetite. I'd go with the others and depending on the patient's state, medical marijuana works best. Digna Re: Question Sometimes ng feeds at minimal rate also helps to stimulate appetite. Guest guest
Remeron was prescribed frequently with our cancer patients because many were depressed along with poor appetite (either one making the other worse). Many times the patient wouldn't admit to the Dr. they were depressed but the family would tell the Dr., this way 2 issues were taken care of at once. It was well tolerated. Marinol has THC in it.
