ALA only update

Thought I would give an update on us! We have been busy busy busy!!!

We have taken abit of a break from the ALA... I decided to suck it up take

out a loan and drive Grace 400 miles RT to a Dr I kept hearing WONDERFUL

things about!!! Dr john Green in Canby Oregon. He is not a DAN! Dr, but his

practice is now nothing but Autistic kiddo's. He is GREAT!!!!

The dr gave us a bunch of blood, urine, fecal, and hair tests to do.

Something most of you had probably all ready done. We had not tested

anything!!! (except a blood heavy metals panel... worthless!! and a fecal

toxic metals.... disapointing!) We have done 14 rounds of ALA only, she is

upto 25mg every 3 hours, 3 on 4-11 off.

As you can see from my earlier post today, we got the hair and a couple of

others back today, (microbiology, digestive panel, IgG, IgA, IgM, also did a

bunch of allergy testing, still waiting on the Basic Mylin antibodies, basic

blood work ect) but our appt will not be until the 8th soooo I will probably

be picking some brains here. As I have written before, Grace has done

WONDERFUL on the ALA only, something new every round!!! but I wanted to

speed things up a bit so we are going to be adding the DMSA in Aug. The Dr

wanted to make sure her zinc levels were up ect before starting. (I had

screwed up the dose when I switched to the drops and was giving her 1/5 of

the dose I thought I was really giving! UGH!!!!

This was what I wrote back in March:

We are seeing more and more of the same!

A couple of things that Dr Green recomended we try, were Bethanocol...

Megson uses this in tandum with Cod Liver oil, This has brought GREAT

benifits also! She is doing more and more spontanious speech all the time! I

asked my mom yesterday if she was asleep (she was rocking her) Grace replied

" no! " So even things that are not directed at her. School keeps asking " what

I am putting in her wheaties? " And just brought up reg preschool 2 days a

week in the fall! Something I wanted to do but they were scepticle about.

Little sis the Dr says she notices a difference even from a week ago.

The next thing we have tried is transdermal secritin, not real sure its

doing anything, except maybe helping with the constipation, but I will give

it another month. I think we are going to have to start a Gluten and Casein

Free diet... I really don't want to but.... todays allergy testing reveled a

MAJOR allergy to wheat!!! Though she did not react to dairy! Interesting

enough. She sometimes goes on a laughing jag! just goofy and almost hyper,

you guessed it that's Wheat! Also, I have always noticed that anytime she

gets oats, even finds one little cherrio, we have an ear infection within 3

days! Well when they gave her the oat test she clapped her hands over her

ears!

Anyhow, back to the ALA. When I first met with Dr Green I told him about

everything I had seen with the ALA. Side effects benefits ect. He said what

I told him corrolates with what his adult patients had decribed in the past!

He told me to keep up the ALA until we see him again, but now we are having

an ear infection, something we have not had since starting chelation! Sooo

we are waiting until this weekend to start it up again.

Well that's about it! If I had no other choice I would just continue the ALA

alone but I am sooo excited and glad we saw Dr Green. He really listens and

validates me as a parent! I still think (KNOW) we have a metals problem, but

some of this other stuff is helping along the way!
