Guest guest
When did prom ever cease to be about dancing? Now they just go, get their pictures taken, dance a couple of dances and then they're outta there. Well, for me, I went to my last prom in 1995- and all we did was do the senior walk, take pictures and we left also. But before we did Putt Putt, Mcs, and a concert! LOL! It was a blast-- but we didn't even dance I don't think... it was a huge group of friends. Sorry about the mess up with where you were- I thought you'd already gone to Austin- I guess because you were MIA! Oh well-- have fun! Tell us how it was! A good friend will come and bail you out of jail... but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Dang...that was fun!"
Guest guest
I graduated in 1994 and at my mom lots of lots of people came, took pictures, showed off, and left. My friends and I, on the other hand, stayed until the very end and danced our butts off and then went to dinner at Bennigan's and got home around 3ish. We didn't have a typical PARTY BEFORE, DURING, AFTERWARDS prom but we had a great time. It was cool though....the people we didn't care for were the ones who left! I paid good money for those 2 tickets for me and my dad and by golly I was going to get my money's worth! That's why I don't go to buffets very often because if it's a 9.00 buffet you darn tootin' I'm gonna eat 9.00 worth! LOL!GEORGE -----Original Message-----From: Hamilton & Feeser Sent: Friday, April 16, 2004 11:51 AMTo: TexasTOPS Subject: Help, I'm lost and I can't find me... Imagine my surprise when I finally got around to checking my email and found out that I was missing in action. I'd been telling my family the very same thing! I'm so overwhelmed with too many volunteer commitments that I don't even have time for myself. I've walked/worked out only once since weigh in on Tuesday. I haven't left to go to Austin yet...I've just been way to busy with Project Graduation commitments, decorating for the honor banquet yesterday, organizing silent auction to be held during powder puff football game, and never ending farm chores. I just need to contact the layspeaker regarding church service on Sunday and then I'm out the door and headed for Austin. Ooops, first I have to go sign my daughter out of school, because I'm dropping her off at a youth conference at a church in Austin. It works out nicely that she and I both need to be in Austin this afternoon and tomorrow. We'll leave Austin in time to make it back home to see my son and his girlfriend walk across the bridge for prominade before prom. Hopefully I can catch up on email Saturday nite, since I'll probably be up half the night worrying about him driving to Austin. When did prom ever cease to be about dancing? [bragging] Last night both he and my daughter were among the students honored for having an 'A' average for the year, and my son and his girlfriend were both honored for having been in the top 10% of their graduating class for all four years of high school. They received letter blankets. I'll have to post a couple of pictures when I get a chance. They're just so darn cute. Okay, I really need to get going. I wish more of you were going to the Texas Roundup in Austin. It would be so nice to see everyone again. , THANK YOU for doing the QOTD. It was a good one....I'll answer it and any other ones that you come up with when I get back home. :>) Hugs and blessings to all, JanetEMAIL TEXAS-STYLE!! Guest guest
You all are mentioning Proms and the parties before and after. I can only use the last two years because each daughter had one each respective year. The oldest was on the committee for the prom and not only was she there early she had to stay late. She said that theirs had a great turn out and the band that was hired was really good. My youngest daughter's last year, she went, did the picture thing, ate because she had tickets to go, maybe danced one dance and left. She said most that went left because they thought it s..ked. She was stressed the whole week before because her boyfriend and her were fighting big time and on prom day he left. She still wanted to go but she didn't want to. I think because of all the money put in to do her nails, her hair, getting her dress and shoes, flowers, in addition to buying the tickets and paying for pictures, well she felt she had to go. On both daughters cases we ended up "finding" dates for them. The PTA parents of the Seniors both years had a Senior Celebration after prom, something to hopefully keep the "kids" from doing things they are not suppose to do. The first year was an exceptional turn out. Last year more came to it than my daughter said went to the prom. This celebration had items donated, good stuff too, and they would draw names of those who came and they would get these items. It lasted until 7:00 am and was at the High School gym. Even though my daughter had a bad beginning of the night, ended with her winning around 4 to 5 things at the celebration. Oh yeah, they were allowed to bring their own CD's to play if they wish to.
