Guest guest Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 How do you all handle the scale issue? I go from weighing everyday (which is definitely unhealthy!!), then I try to not weigh at all and quit worrying about the number. Eventually, curiosity gets the best of me and I want to know if I've lost anything. I would love to never weigh again, but how do you get to that point? Any insight would be great pickgirl Quote
Guest guest Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 I just don't weigh myself, the doc does when I go and thats about it. I go by my body and clothes and how I feel about myself. I know when I put on weight by how things fit etc. How do you all handle the scale issue? Guest guest Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Pickgirl, I go through the same thing. Unfortunately I have such an unreliable scale that one time it shows me at a weight I don't agree with so then I step off and then step on again and it can be 5 lbs higher or 5 lbs lighter. I never know if it is accurate or not. I think it has to do with my weight. I think because I am fatter the scale is not nearly as accurate. I don't have much insight because I do the same thing. It sucks. I know I should throw it away but I just can't convince myself to do it. Michele pickgirl328 wrote: How do you all handle the scale issue? Guest guest Posted November 17, 2006 Report Posted November 17, 2006 Michele, how about compromising by only weighing yourself when you are really feeling good about yourself? If you are not, and risk disappointment by the numbers, skip the scale. > How do you all handle the scale issue? Guest guest Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 I try to do that. I won't use the scale until I feel like I have lost some weight but then I get on the scale and it it shows I haven't lost or I have gained it really pisses me off and then I get in the emotional eating mode and eat to sooth my hurt feelings. Guest guest Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 Hi Michele, I'm sorry for not being clear. When I meant " feeling good " , I meant being in such a good mood (happy? confident?) that it doesn't matter what the scale says. I didn't mean to imply that you should only lose it if you think the scale will go down. If, no matter how happy you are, the scale will depress you, how about putting it a really inconvenient spot in your house (the attic) or loaning it a friend for a while? The scale going up depresses me greatly. I know how you feel. Now that the battery in my scale is dead, I'm free at last. It so liberating, but it is scary to let go. I wish you luck. Guest guest Posted November 19, 2006 Report Posted November 19, 2006 I should really put my scale in the basement. With as many times as I feel compelled to weigh myself in a day, I would get the exercise I needed just running up and down the stairs. :-) That might be a good thing for getting exercise. No I am kidding. That is a good idea though. It would definitely keep me from weighing myself too much. I did well today. Last week I bought to books from The Biggest Loser series. While some of the stuff can't be used because they do have a different theory than IE I did find out some helpful information. Does anyone watch that show at all? Guest guest Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 Yep, no scale in this house and I continue to get thinner and thinner without it. I work out a lot but it is becuase it feels so darned good!! Anyway, I think scales are counterproductive to IE when used in such a way as to monitor weight loss daily etc. I should really put my scale in the basement. Guest guest Posted November 20, 2006 Report Posted November 20, 2006 I put the scale in the basement this morning. Our shower is in the basement and I decided I could put it in the laundry/shower room and curb my temptation to weigh all the time. I found out an interesting thing though. When I have it upstairs on my hard wood floors I weigh differently than if I have it on the thin carpet in the laundry room. I also tried it several times on the hard floor of the basement as well as the thin carpet. Not a big deal. Just thought that was interesting and thought I would pass it along. I can't wait to get my IE book. I really want to read all the information. And I am ready to change. Michele wrote: Yep, no scale in this house and I continue to get thinner and thinner without it.
