Guest guest
You may not know that you have the option to go to the website and " amend " your account to " read at website only " . This has simplified my email considerably. Melody > I'd just like to ask everyone to try to keep list > traffic down. Guest guest
, you can goto http://www.yahoogroups.com, and login and change your email settings. I will continue to post items on the situation, as this is an EMS situation, which is what this list is for. There are now 300+ Firefighters, EMS personnel, and Police Officers missing. There is requests for blood, nationwide. Blood donations are being accepted at all Texas blood banks, and transport to the NE is being arranged. There is requests for any EMS/Medical Personnel in New York City. This is not just a national news item, but one that we need to get ourselves prepared for. We had better get ready for this here in Texas. It could happen here too. Thanks J. Hoskins List Traffic I'd just like to ask everyone to try to keep list traffic down. With everything that has happened today, there is a much greater than usual amount of internet traffic. I am sure everyone on this list is glued to the news media. Please do not post national news items, we'll all see it at 5, 6, and 10. This is truly unnecessary traffic and your mailboxes are flooded as is mine. Thank you, E. Guest guest
Jay, I don't need to change my settings. I don't mind certain things being posted, things we won't catch on the news. I do however think some of the postings here lately have been redundant and unnecessary. Seriously, go back and look at the posts yesterday and point out 1 that we probably didn't already know at the time of the posting. That is my point. There was so much net congestion yesterday that many servers were down until well after lunch. Those emails were just wasted bandwidth as I see it. You may disagree with me on this on, but that's what makes American great isn't it? Guest guest
I was merely offering you a suggestion, - which was the same suggestion as Melody offered. If you don't wish to take it, that is fine- that is what makes America great too. Redundant or not, I don't think we can get enough of the information- who knows the print articles may be used in a future class........... I know because I am currently working on one. I do disagree with you on this one- guess we can't always agree on everything........ Opinions are like brains (everyone has one- regardless of whether we use it or not :-) If we cant talk about situations like this, and post articles that effect EMS & Domestic Terrorisim in our own country, what good is the list for. We need to be pulling together, on the list, and as a country- not bickering over bandwidth. We need to focus our thoughts and actions on assisting in anyway possible. Redundant by posting articles or not, this is the worst act of terrorisim in the existance of the world. In reviewing the posts I still think this is a very serious EMS issue. In case you don't know it, RRAD and the Ammunitions Plant has biological and other types of weapons stored on its premesis....... From what I hear, it is a great target in the event of war. Are we prepared for this? NO WAY. Are we prepared if an incident hits lets say, Red River Army Depot in Bowie County, or in Downtown Dallas. The answer is NO. No matter how many drills you can do and think you are prepared- you really never are. The more exposure this gets, the better educated we will be. I will be doing a course in the not to distant future, with details to be released on that at a later date. Some of this material that I have posted on the internet WILL be seen again during the course presentation. We are going to have to learn from the mistakes that were made on 9/11/01, that killed 300+ Fire, EMS, and Police Personnel. It all has to relate to a scene safety issue. I know some of it could not be helped, and I am not second guessing NYPD, the NYFD or the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department. This will be one of the topics of discussion and presentation in the course I am working on preparing at this time. Our lack of exposure and knowledge in this area is why the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education has decided to award credit for the Domestic Prepardness courses, through FEMA, the US Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, and TEEX: http://www.teex.com/campus/ is the address Below is a listing of all currently available courses for the Weapons of Mass Destruction campus at the above site: EMS Concepts for WMD Incidents On most calls, EMS first responders are initially concerned with victims in need of medical attention. However, the unique nature of a terrorist incident involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) calls for a different protocol. While the focus of this course is primarily on the treatment of patients at mass causality sites, responders must also be aware of unique considerations associated with terrorist events. Public Works This course is under development. Please check back this Spring. Terrorism Awareness for Emergency First Responders From the smallest pipe bomb to the horror of the Oklahoma City bombing, terrorism presents added concerns to those involved in emergency response. This course addresses the unique requirements of those incidents with a special emphasis on self-protection for first responders. I guess us disagreeing on this issue is normal... we have agreed on alot in the past, so an occasional disagreement on an issue is the norm I guess.... We all cant always think alike, and have the same opinion- as we are a FREE nation, unlike Afghanistan and Iraq. The acts of terrorism against the US will not take our freedom away, nor knock us down, we will always prevail over the terrorists, just to be able to protect our freedoms as citizens, such as yours and my opinions on this issue. Again, this issue is too serious not to be posted on here. We have too many of our fellow brothers and sisters missing and presumed dead not to talk about it here.
