Guest guest
, Glad to have you aboard the IE support group. I am Vicki and after dieting for two years and losing over 150 pounds, I discovered IE. And 6 months later I have lost about 15 additional pounds. I am so happy to find a way of life that I can eat and be happy and live life to the fullest. About the scales, I weigh myself about once a month. Yes, the numbers have risen a couple of times. It is funny, but others can see my loss before I can. People will say “oh, you’ve lost more weight”. I always reply,” A little bit”. It sounds like you've been going through this process for a while. I have tons of questions swirling around in my head, and the one that popped in my mind as I read your post was about weighing yourself. I know that the book says not to weigh yourself. Have you found this to be a hard thing to do? Do you basically just not think about the number anymore and go by how loose your clothes feel, etc? Thanks, " Jenn S. I don't know that I've ever talked to anyone who's dealing with that while learning to be an IE. As for gaining weight from eating what you crave.... I don't know. I ate what I loved (chocolate, ice cream, cake, etc) while learning IE last year, and --as long as I ate only when truly EMPTY, and stopped when I'd had JUST ENOUGH-- I still lost weight! You have to be sure you're listening to your body's signals. And, if you DO happen to still gain, I'd say just be forgiving and patient with yourself. This is a process, and the weight WILL eventually come off. You have to be prepared to give it a while, though. It's not going to just drop off overnight. It took a while to get the weight on, so be patient while you learn, and it will come off. Jenn <>< -----Original Message----- My name is and I just joined the group. I have been reading the book Intuitive Eating and have been amazed at how spot on their advice seems to be. Everything they say sounds so logical, yet I'm obviously still in the stage where giving into my temptations and eating " bad " foods scares me to death. I have been on the diet wagon for as long as I can remember. I have been heavy since I was a toddler and have tried everything including gastric bypass surgery to lose the weight and keep it off. I have since gained back about 35 pounds after a pregnancy and am struggling to get back on track. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 6 years ago and it has been under control since the bypass surgery, but am curious if there are any others in the group that have diabetes and follow the intuitive eating process and how they do it. Also, there is the fear that is described in the book about gaining weight when you start eating everything you crave. What have your experiences been with intuitive eating and how has it changed your lives. I am very excited about the prospect of losing this obsession I've developed with food over the years and would like to live a " normal " life, especially now that I have a young, impressionable daughter at home. I look forward to hearing from all of you and sharing my journey with all of you. http://mizbooksreads.blogspot.com http://intuitive-eater.blogspot.com http://intuitive-eating.blogspot.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/IntuitiveEating_Support * NEVER DIET AGAIN! * __________________________________________________
