Also, can you please add me to your list for I'd love to receive the daily mails that I've heard you send out? I am a mom of a 6 yr old son(almost 7) on the Autism Spectrum. We have provided him with therapies since he was diagnosed at 2 yrs and 3 mos. ABA, RDI, OT, Speech were the fundamental ones. He has always been moving forward in small steps. 11 months ago we have introduced to him an absolutely wonderful intervention, HANDLE (Holistic Approach to Neurodevelopmental Learning Efficiency) by the originator, Judith Bluestone. It is an approach that treats each individual’s presenting concerns differently, customizing a wide array of deceptively simple activities that enhance the

irregular systems discovered through in depth assessment procedures. In our case, many of the activities were a unique combination of Reflexology and Acupressure along with other special sensory-motor activities to create new neural pathways and to integrate these to enhance function. Judith combines many different modalities and provides the parents of clients with neurodevelopmental difficulties with simple activities(tapping on the face, head, rolling a ball on the body, drinking thru a spiral crazy straw etc) the basis being the nervous systems (central and autonomic and enteric and more) are stimulated in moments here and there throughout the day, almost as if it were to tease them into maturation and integration (to keep this simple). We are blown away by the changes in our son and we are not the only ones speaking of HANDLE in this language. Our son's articulation has jumped up 40% or more within 7 days, he clearly identifies all of our family members and most recently is trying to address us (mommy, daddy) when he is trying to speak, self-awareness increased incredibly and in the process the awareness of others around him, loves observing his little brother and is chasing him and very much interacting and ... 2 days ago we caught him combing his hair in front of a mirror in the bath. The list continues. As a family we are so elated that I have been involved directly in opening a door for the course in Orlando. I am trying to reach out as much as possible to spread the word for it comes easy to express what we feel. To sum it up, it is the easiest intervention to implement in the shortest period of time that has brought about the most dramatic and meaningful changes in our son. quoted in TIME magazine as well as Neurodevelopmental journals. Her second book, The Fabric of Autism: Weaving the Threads into a Cogent Theory has won raves from parents and healthcare professionals alike. She is coming to FL for the 1st time (Orlando to be exact) to hold a 2-day introductory class on July 28th and 29th. It is an absolutely wonderful intervention that can complement any other therapy/intervention as long as that other intervention operates out of respect for individual differences and tolerance for stimulation. We are trying to keep up with the changes that are coming thru and getting him prepared for what lies ahead. He does not have a lot of spontaneous language yet, but was given a wonderful opportunity to sit in a typical kindergarten class this coming fall in a wonderful church school nearby. He sat there for 2 months 3days/week and has adapted himself to the class routines with a helper that we have provided with. We'll have to wait and see but for now we are very encouraged.
