Guest guest
I'll be 4 weeks post-op tomorrow. I can't believe it. Last week I moved to bands, but was still limited to liquids. Yesterday the doctor gave me leave to eat soft foods, and said I could take out the bands on occasion, though he recommended keeping them in most of the time. I ate mashed potatoes and refried beans yesterday - amazing how these side dishes suddenly seem like gourmet meals. Chin is still numb, and I wouldn't want to eat in front of anyone, since I'm not so great at it yet. I can only open my mouth about 3/4 inch, so there isn't much space for a spoon. Still tired, mainly because I'm hungry, but doing okay. The big shock was the hospital bill - it arrived Saturday, and totals $23,000. I took it to the surgeon Monday, and he said it looked excessive, and to order the itemized bill. I've done that, and once he's reviewed it and (hopefully) removed some charges, I'll negotiate with the hosptial to pay a more reasonable amount. I was in tears over the bill on Saturday, but now I'm feeling OK. I can negotiate with them, and hopefully work something out. Already I feel like the surgery is worth whatever I end up paying for it...it is just a matter of finding the money someplace. Donna, did you have any luck with your insurance appeal? molly
