I SNIPPED THE YO-YO STRING, LET'S JUST HOPE SOMEONE DOESN'T TIE A KNOT IN IT!! No matter where we live, no matter who we are, we're all bound by borders....borders that define our lives....some real, some imagined. Many of us are content to live within these borders. Others are forced to. But some of us need to break out, burst through, even if what lies on the other side is both frightening and unknown. -----Original Message-----From: TED & WILLIE Sent: Friday, April 09, 2004 6:44 AMTo: TexasTOPS Subject: Roll Call Don't know how, but I gained this week ! 1/2 Pounds Exercised 8 hours Walked 7 miles. Guest guest
One thing I would like to suggest, Barbie, is to work on your negative attitude and your self-guilt. Yes, we are responsible for what goes into our mouths and how many times we get up off our rear-ends to exercise, but blaming ourselves doesn't help at all. I speak from experience as I am a terrific self-blamer, but I'm really working on that as I find it adds nothing to my weight loss success. But, it does create a breeding ground for failure. A positive attitude and positive self-esteem are extremely important in our success, and we need to concentrate on the positive things we do (avoiding that extra sweet, parking a bit further in the parking lot to walk more, etc.) rather than the negative ("I'm a goof off and I'm not keeping a journal, I don't drink my water like I suppose to and exercise (what is that?)" I am Leader at our chapter also so I understand completely your wanting to set a good example for your members. But, we're all in this together and being an officer doesn't make it any easier to lose, it just adds to the guilt and negative feelings when we are struggling. I've been having an extremely hard time the last several months and used that as a program at our last meeting. We had a good, open discussion on being honest when we're struggling and not ashamed to ask for extra support from each other. Now, if you still need your backside "kicked" just let us know. LOL Have a great week and know that you're not doing this alone - we're here for you. Hugs, Deanna
