Guest guest
Weighed in with yet another TURTLE yesterday. Had more exercise than ever this past week. Power-walked/jogged for a total of 30.75 miles plus did thighmaster 100 Xs for 5 days, bicep curls 100 Xs for 7 days, and 100 bat wing extensions for 5 days...okay, I think they're actually calles 'tri-cep' extensions. Had a wonderful and active two days in Austin on Sunday and Monday. Walked for 3 hours at the Lady Bird Wildflower Center. No, its not that big of an area, but my daughter and I walked and RE-walked the trails while we waited for my son's photography workshop to end. I was probably anemic afterwords with all the blood that the mosquitos sucked outta me! We stayed at the Radisson Hotel on Cesar Chavez in Austin. We were on the 9th floor with a beautiful view right down Congress Avenue to the Capitol. The Congress Street bridge, home to the largest urban bat colony, was right behind the hotel. We walked for awhile on the Town Lake trail until dusk, at which time we went and watched the bats depart from their living quarters under the bridge. After that, we walked the 12 blocks to the Capitol building and then back to 6th Street for a quick walk down a couple of blocks so that my teens could see how overated 6th Street is! By the time that we got back to the hotel it was about 11 p.m. It was a very long walk, with my daughter praying for each homeless street person that we passed. (My sympathy only goes so far when one has the means to get alcohol and cigarettes, but not a life) I know that many probably have psychiatric/mental issues, but its kinda hard to tell when they're so drunk. My son slept-in the next morning (Monday) while my daughter and I walked/jogged for almost 2 hours around the Town Lake hike and bike trail. We were totally soaked with sweat by the time we got back to the hotel. My daughter said that my shirt looked several inches longer when we finished. I don't doubt it... it was holding alot of sweat! What an awesome trail! There are actually 10.1 miles of trails around Town Lake... not sure how far we ended up going. I had no idea that there is actually a pedestrian bridge that crosses Town Lake under the south bound lane of Mopac. We made it back home around 4 p.m. ,after stops at Precision Camera and Strait Music store.... oh, and Wal-Mart, too. I finally found the Sansoni walking video that I was looking for.... It's a box set with three videos... a 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 mile walk. I was so excited that when we got home from Austin, I did the 2 mile video. Felt so good that I went on and did the 3 mile one, for a total of 5 miles (on top of the almost 2 hours around Town Lake). Yup, I was a bit stiff when I got up on Tuesday morning, but my daughter and I did another 5 miler down our county road. (we have landmarks that we use for 2, 3, 4, or 5 mile walks on our road.) We've had so much rain lately, but so far we haven't melted while walking in it. No excuses for not getting in exercise, to include rain. I think that when I actually lose this flab I'll have some definition in my legs... If I push real hard through the fat, I can feel muscle! I'm going to try to continue on with the toning exercises with the dumb bells and thighmaster this week, although I HATE both!!! Hugs, Janet TOPS # TX 429, Copperas Cove 13 weeks - no gains!
