Lyssa off topic Hey, Gang! It IS off topic, but that's ok here on this list, right? I just HAD to brag........ The " Welcome " letter arrived Wednesday.....My daughter was accepted to MIT!!! It's so exciting.....MIT is her first choice for college! They did not include an offer for financial aid, so I'm not sure she is going there yet. They will have to make a very hefty offer in order for her to go there.....We are hopeful that it will be a very nice package. I just found out yesterday that because she is the valedictorian of her class, she will get a full scholarship including room and board to any state school! However......u-mass is not where she wants to go. I'm just a very proud Momma.....She is such a hard worker and a great kid. He ended up at Boston College with a fabulous financial aid package. The bigger the school, the better the aid (usually) . Plus they really want those bright kids to go to their schools!!! Shaun got an early acceptance and the financial aid package and then in about 3 weeks we got another financial aid package which was better than the first !!!!!!!! Also, sometimes there are extra scholarships you don't even know about., for example at BC, there is a $10,000 scholarship (over the 4 years) in Tip O'Neill's name for the boy and girl in his district (mine) who had the highest SAT scores. We didn't know about this - they just sent a letter after he accepted. So, check out every scholarship you can think of and ask MIT if they know of any others!!! There are usually thousands of dollars available that nobody even knows about. We also have an ivy league school in NH and infact that is where I am getting my sugery done.
