apple, know the feelings you describe. the first thing i did when i

freed myself from the hive was research cults and their methodology.

i remmeber seeing an interview on cable with an ex-heavens gate'er who

didnt take the mothership cocktail. What he desribed was a series of

redundate techniques to keep the members on the path, including a

" sponsor " type buddy, who would belittle you if your thinking strayed.

he also describe what it was like aftre he left. He was confused, and

unable to trust hsi own thinking or instincts for along time. So many of

his descions had been made for him in cult. (including what they wore

and ate) Constantly second guessing his choice to leave. What he

described was what i was feeling at that time aftre leaving A.A. I knew

in my gut then that it was a cult.

I wish i could remember what program i saw the interview on. It was

really facinating to hear this story of " how it worked " for heaven's

gate from one of the few survivors.
