Syd gets a 110, moderate PDD

and

Madison got a 149, again, moderate PDD.

That said.... again, I ask a question related to the potty training issues

on ATEC.

If a child is essentially nonverbal, she is obviously not going to " talk

excessively " or " continue boring conversation " or initiate conversation.

Should I be marking " severe " to " does the child initiate conversation " or

should be I mark " no " , which is, actually, the true answer to the question?

I used " no " but obviously - - if I used " Severe " as my answer to questions

such as " does she repeat words or sentences repetitively " - - both their

scores would be higher. MUCH higher.

-The doctor that owns this website was my son's neurologist. We found

another one because of his lack of accepting our insurance and he is

brusqe in his manner. I used that scale on too. He also had us

do the hyperactivity one for him. on this one, came out moderate

to severe. So, he is mildly autistic and mod/severely hyperactive.

Ebony got a 153--severe PDD. But I think mostly

because she is non-verbal and the severe had to be

marked for all of those.

My got a 178 :( He's four and a half now, and at least now

he is at least 'old' enough that when people see him in public

they 'know' something is wrong with him right away. Might sound bad

but I am actually 'glad' in a way as he gets older people don't see

him as a misbehaving kid anymore -- except in the cry room at Church

(i'm Catholic), but those old ladies that go there are in their own

little perfect world and the priest is as well. They don't live in

the real world anyhow...

(in Ohio)

(ASD and 'the works')

2 1/2 (NT, thank goodness)

Mitchel got a 145, although the good news is that I found that many

things that would have been severe a year or two ago are now mild or

resolved.

This convinces me that I must have done it wrong for Putter! I know he is

more severe than Mitchel. I just know it.

Perhaps I should redo it.

Or maybe I rated some more severly than he is currently. sometimes

it's hard to determine what he's like 'today' since today can change

a lot from yesterday from tomorrow...

Well, being very very hard rating got me a 131. But I wasn't sure it was

right either.

Still both say he is Moderate and that is exactly what I would have said so

I guess it makes sense.

It's just the comparison between everyone else whose child sounds pretty on

the ball and who nonetheless has a higher score? What makes the difference?

Putter's general cuddliness? I just have no idea...

You're a tough lady, Kerri, (or should I say " KErri " ?) and apparently I am a

softie.

Kerri or KErri, I'll answer to either :)

Those things are just so hard to rate. because he's done everything

on that list, and most of them severly at one point, so the hard part

is determining where he is now in that comparision - and where does

that fall in comparision to normal? While he may not do " x " so

severely any more he may still be miles away from where an NT child

his age should be...

so I just say, he's autistic (and cuter than hell) and leave it at

that.

Makes sense to me. Except for the question marks unless they are just your

basic attitude to life, in which case it makes sense.

The question marks were basically for my inability to properly fit

Mitchel in any one category :)

You probably scored too hard :) I had her speech therapist look over our

cars to see if I went to easy. He said I was within a point or two. Try

having someone who you respect take the test and give you their opinion.
