Guest guest
Dear Carole, I was looking for the article to give to a friend who is applying for disability. Unfortunately by the time I met her she was already most of the way through it so there wasn't too much guidance I could give her (she doesn't have a computer). She just went to one of SS's docs and came away in tears after the doc said she didn't think she would get it as pain wasn't a major factor in determining disability. I had remembered that article and wanted to give her a copy of it to show that the doc wasn't quite right about that. Also sent her some stuff from the SS site talking about how pain is used in the determining factors. I on the other hand was one of the few lucky ones that didn't need a lawyer and went through on the first try. Unlike my friend I had lots of big name docs backing me up with medical histories which is I'm sure why mine went through right away. If my friend does not get this then I will try to help her more with some of the other info you all have suggested. Hopefully she'll get it though. My fingers are crossed for her.
