Guest guest
Hi Norma- We were amazed as well. It was shocking. I look at it as my dad having so many things robbed from him, his decisions, dignity, and life in general. But then the night before he passed away he was up walking around. He stopped by the nurses station and leaned on the counter with the nurses for a bit. He went into their lounge room and sat in a recliner with his feet up for a while as well. He made his way to his room, used the restroom and went to bed. I look at it as if these were all decisions he made and was able to make. It's as if all faculties are working, all dignity was restored and now he could win his battle with LBD. All this was so amazing considering we couldn't even weigh my dad because he couldn't stand. His body was so contorted and stiff. He had stopped eating a couple weeks prior and was so very thin and weak. My dad hadn't used the restroom for months and was completely incontinent. He sure went out in style. :-) Thank you, Norma, for writing and taking me to a more vivid memory of my dad's last days. Big Iowa hugs- Sandie Des Moines, IA dad, Merle, passed from LBD 9-20-02, age 65 mum, (MIL), Jo, passed from LBD 4-29-07, age 78 ----- Re: Tight fist and a fetal position Date: Tue, 16 Mar 2010 12:52:23 -0000 Hi Sandi - Your Dad's last week was incredible. I hadn't heard this before and am amazed, even after hearing so many stories. > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > Marilyn, I am glad things are working out. I haven't been able to write but I am with you in spirit. > > > > > > I have a question. Have any of you experineced your LO in a fetal position and the fist are tightly clinched, then have to help get them open and get him up, and after getting his sea legs, he is able to walk just fine? > > > > > > My Don has been doing this for almost three weeks. I thought when a person started doing those things (clinching fist and going into a fetal position) that they were close to the end. Yet, how can he get up (with help) and move around without any trouble? He doesn't seem a bit close to the end to me. > > > > > > We have Hospice now, for all the help they are so far. I had to send the bathing girl away this morning because she was wearing heavy perfume. We told her I would get sick from it. She must have forgotten. She said I only have on a little bit. I told her it only takes a bee sting to kill some people, and that is just a little bit. > > > > > > Love you all, and waiting for an answer, > > > Imogene > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > Welcome to LBDcaregivers. > >
