Guest guest
<<What do you mean by " staying in ketosis " , surely the effects of ketones on the body would be astonishing, this is why we try to keep sugar levels down?>> You are thinking about ketoacidosis. This is when the blood sugar is high and the body is burning fat uncontrollably because of the high blood sugar. Usually readings 300 and up. Ketosis is only the burning of fat in the body and blood sugar should be low. Anytime you are losing fat you will have ketones in the urine, the amount will vary. And yes ketoacidosis is deadly, ketosis is good if you are overweight. <<Balance of nutrients is what the body needs no matter what the illness, the atkins might *show* goods results and hey you might quickly fit into smaller clothes but your body would be low on nutrients it needs and this will have other adverse effects that may not be related to diabetes.>> If you read the Atkins research you will see that it is not just a weight loss program, but greatly lowers all you bad blood levels from cholesterol to blood sugar, improves heart conditions, cancer etc. All people on Atkins that I know do take vitamins. <<Once again, " causing ketones to burn fat " is an alarming idea please explain and show me evidence of it having any benefit!!>> Duke is doing a study and the University of Colorada have been doing studies with amazing results. For me personally I lost 40 pounds, lowered blood sugar, and cut tryglicerides from 3000 to 250 and cured an ulcer. I just had a heart echo about 3 months ago after almost dying from a heart attack and the doctor said it was one of the best he has ever seen. I still have problems, but with continued weight loss (working on that) I expect to be well in another 6 months. For me this was the only hope. I used to take 10 medications a day. I now am only taking synthroid. My blood sugar is now 160 in the morning and 125 at night. Here is the link. Just go to Atkins and click on success stories. It is full of miracles. http://atkinscenter.com/dev/ But, if I was type one I would read Bernstein also because he deals with so much information on taking insulin.
