Why can't you get off prednisone. Is there an alternative? Pain medication causes a rebound, making pain worse. That is why so many people cannot get off pain meds. What is the Klonopin for? I know it was given to me for peripheral neuropathy. Lynda I cannot get off of Prednisone, because of the severe rebound effect. I have been to hell and back with this stuff. I have Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, which includes severe burning. I also have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. The other meds are even worse than the steroids. Klonopin helps some with the pain. I wish I had never had to take Prednisone, but for me nothing else worked. My Gyn doctor agrees that I must be all inflammed inside... I was able at least to get to a prety low dose until gyn surgery last fall. That seemed to stir everything up. Cathie ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Hi Beth: I thought that the nodules were hot, but then the Endocrinologist looked at the path report and said the thyroid still needs to come out. Something about the way the iodine was taken up wasn't the way it should be, although it did not say they were cold. The first surgeon I saw only wanted to take out the lobe with the largest mass in it. He totally missed the second lab report describing the other small lumps in the other side. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Cathie P.S. I also have neurological problems and much pain. In a message dated 5/17/07 8:32:14 AM, bethlakey@... writes: Hi , I had a suspicious FNA of an enlarged right lobe last month and it was recommended I have it removed. The lobe was over 3.5cm It was a tough decision for me, as I don't do well with surgery or medications. But the cancer suspicion was serious enough that I felt I had very little choice. I had the right lobe removed a few weeks ago. I did fairly well with the surgery but did need a betablocker during recovery. My levels will be tested again in June. Besides Synthroid, there is Armour thyroid, and a few others you can try. I have a friend who did have thyroid cancer, and she has undergone the radioactive iodine treatment. Her tsh levels are at 87 right now, and it will be another week before she can start medication. She is in her 30s and physically very exhausted going through this. The reason I had my lobe removed was because it contained a cold nodule, and that increases the cancer risk. So the first question I would ask is whether there is a cold nodule, and if not, would it be possible to monitor the thyroid, and perhaps have another FNA in 6 months. Very rarely do people die from thyroid cancer. The cure rate is typically around 90%. The death rate is higher in older males. By the way, I have neurological problems, and they are much worse after surgery. I hope this helps, hugs, Beth ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
I knew most the women in Fort Worth . . . To my knowledge, she wasn't one of them. I didn't see the incident . . . One of the Fort Worth women who got there almost immediately told me that she thought she looked pretty good and that she wondered what the woman was upset about - She was the one who wondered if it was for publicity.
