Guest guest
Thanks Bernadette for the thyroid links. I myself have antithyroid antibodies but not Hashimoto's. It's considered subclinical thyroiditis. Haven't been treated for it although I'm going to pursue it. Do a lot of you out there have thyroid problems as a result of Lyme? Does anyone know if this is a common complication of Lyme? Does anyone have what I have? If so, do you get treated? Thanks. Feeling a little brighter this morning. Guest guest
Bernadette, My TSH levels are mid range. What's off is that I have " anti-microsomal AB " antibodies, not anti-thyroglobulin antibodies. Those are the two thyroid ab's they test for. My doctor called it subclinical thyroiditis. I can't even remember what that means exactly except that I don't have full blown symptoms of Hashi's and my TSH is normal. He thought that it would be contributing to my low energy. I forgot to bring this up in the midst of figuring out the Lyme diagnosis. I know he said at one point that there's no treatment for it. I wonder about that. beth > I don't understand this statement...if you have antibodies against your > thyroid and you have symptoms of hypothyroidism...then you are considered to > have Hashi's...it is also sub-clinical if your thyroid lab levels of TSH or > T4 are on the low ranges of normal...so you can actually correctly be termed > as having both...Bernadette ******************************************************* Iinfected in 1984, Western Sierras, California undiagnosed rash Dormant disease w/ low grade symptoms Disease became active in late '98 Primarily neuro symptoms ELISA - neg. Guest guest
Thank you, Sue. Your post has come at a very appropriate time. I have two nodules in my neck but my thyroid bloodwork is normal as well. I still need to go to the doctor. I will keep you poster. Hope you do the same. Alma thyroid problems Ok so I have been doing the colon cleansing and I'm smack in the middle of the parasite cleanse and like almost everyone here I've been through the testing at my MD for diabetes and HIV and everything else they can think of that might be a cause for the candida overgrowth. So finally they decided to check my thyroid because I had a lymph node in my neck that was consistently swollen. So it seems my thyroid blood work has returned in the " normal " range but there are nodules growing on the thyroid itself. I go back into the doctor today to find out the next step for this. It seems that a thyroid that is out of whack so to speak can cause candida overgrowth. I wanted to know if anyone here has been diagnosed with a thyroid problem that is contributing to their candida troubles. I've also read that candida can cause thyroid trouble so it's getting blurred and confusing. I have symptoms from candida all month long but they seem to flare up really bad approx a week before my period. Anybody else have any of these symptoms? I've been following the diet and a cleansing routine. I'm not a sick as I was before but I'm not better either. Not that I expected to be just yet. Thanks for any input that anyone here has. Guest guest
Well, it's nice to know I'm not the only one here with this going on. I was at the Dr's yesterday and was told I have one nodule that's under 3mm in size. The radiologist report said it was a non-specific finding and to check it again in 6 months. The prelim blood work done came back normal but I've pushed the doctor for more tests. So they've taken my blood yet again and they're testing the TSH levels T3 & T4 and my adrenal functions as well as one other test. My advice is to try to get the doctor to test all your hormones and see what they come up with. They didn't seem too interested in digging much further there until I pushed to have these done. I've also been referred to an ear nose and throat and a gyn. I think my doctor thinks I'm a little bit nuts but I figure if I don't push I won't get anywhere with this. Hope all goes well with your nodulars. Seems that mostly they are benign or cysts. Seems that it's quite common to have them from all the research I've done so far. Guest guest
Hi there: I am a friend of Rogene's and am new to the group. I am having a little trouble figuring out how to get around here, but hope to get that worked out soon. Please bear with me. I have autoimmune issues, vasculitis and neuropathy and have been unable to work now since the early '90's. I have severe neurological pain. I am having trouble with my thyroid. In addition to a 17 year history of leaking and ruptured silicone implants (removed in '92) I also had nasal radium treatments as a child. Some of these people are developing cancers of the head, neck, brain and thyroid as older adults. Boy, I got used as a guinea pig at both ends of my life... Anyway, a CT scan, various ultrasounds, a radioactive scan and 2 fine needle aspirations have been unable to determine whether nodules present in both sides of my thyroid gland are cancerous or not. This means the whole gland has to come out. I am really concerned, because I am on Prednisone, cannot get off of it, and it doesn't take much to get a nasty flareup of my autoimmune problems going big time. I don't know how in the world I will be able to adjust Prednisone AND Synthroid to this situation. Obviously, I am not the most desirable candidate for surgery. I had aneurysm repair surgery several years back and the flareup from that was really rough. Is there anyone here who has gone through this surgery and who is on steroids or immunosuppressants? I would appreciate any input. Thanks a lot. I look forward to reading more here and getting to know people. Cathie
