Guest guest
I think the key word here is " forced " . Whether it's needles or whatever, of course it's a violation. If any " force " is happening around 12 step groups, it has already been determined by several courts that this is unconstitutional. Guest guest
My God - this is happening in America??? Jan opinions wanted! I am interested in any opinions you may have or research/information on the forced/mandated use of acupuncture with adolescents who use/abuse substances(not dependent). Can they be forced to acupuncture treatment? Do you consider this a violation of their rights? What can they do about it if they are on probation and mandated to substance abuse treatment(not necessarily acupuncture treatment, which is one of the components). The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in our community has recently established an adolescent treatment program using acupuncture as a method of treatment. Of course, CADA, is heavily 12-step based in it's treatment methods. Any input would be appreciated, I have several adolescent clients who are being subjected to this and are upset about it, not to mention a violation of their cultural boundaries - many of whom are Hispanic males who seem to take offense to this method of treatment.
