Guest guest
My name is Robyn and I also had DDD at L-5, S-1. I had the spinal fusion surgery a few years ago. The shots never worked for me nor did the physical therapy. I found after the surgery that my pain still continued but I was physically able to do more. I could not lift a gallon of milk before the surgery. I could hardly stand for any length of time. I now do not have the lifting problems but I still of occasional pain and also now fibromyalgia pain all over my entire body. I now take stronger medicines than before the surgery and hurt more all over. I can't tell you what to do but when people ask me if my surgery worked here's what I say: " The mechanics of my back have been fixed. I can do whatever I want now and don't have problems lifting and standing for long periods of time. However, I still hurt all of the time. " Please don't think that the surgery is going to be the fix that changes everything. From everyone I know who has had it, it is a help but not a cure. Hope this helps. E-mail if you have other questions. Robyn wrote: I was just recently diagnosed with ( " Grossly degenerated disk disease and 2 bulging disc's-L4 & L5, and also L5 & S1.) I was given 3 options. They were, Shots, physical therapy, or surgery. I chose the first 2. But then this week for some odd reason, the pain tripled.
