Guest guest
I've had the brain fog constantly since 2000 thanks to the Fibromyalgia. I completely understand where you are coming from and it is extremely frustrating. I've not yet been able to get mine under control, and have pretty bad cognitive dysfunction from the CFS and FMS and all the meds for the RA and anxiety that cause sleepiness seem to exacerbate it for me Doug <luckydfp96@...> wrote: I was just diagnoised with RA 2 months ago. I was put on Prednisone and (Plaqniall) . Now I am taperring off the prenisone and my brain fog came back. Today I was making Bagells. Looking in the fridge for the cream cheese but couldn't find it. Then when I looked on the table it was already there. I couldnt remember taking it out. I am worried about going to work tommorow. Thinking about taking 20 mlg of prenisone instead of the 10. I work in a technical job and small mistakes can be a big deal. Really scarey. At least I know what the problem is now. I thought I was loosing my mind for a while. Does anyone know how to get rid of the brain fog.
Guest guest
Hi Doug I have Cirrhosis along with RA and I get some serious Brain Fog also. More to do with my Cirrhosis then the RA. My doctor prescribes lactulose for me. It's actually used to treat constipation, so be prepared! Obviously, check with your doctor first to see if it is compatible with your other meds. Amonia build up in my brain is what causes my brain fog and the Lactulose works well for me. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Are you taking any other meds. I take Plaquenil as well. I first started out taking Lyrica and now Neurontin instead. when she prescribed me the Lyrica she told me if I had any memory loss or felt funny to let her know immediately. Call your doc and let them know how you are feeling. Good luck and I hope you have pain free day.
Guest guest
, Boy, can I relate to you. On top of having all the things you have, I had breast cancer and my chemo treatment 2 1/2 yrs ago, as I'm finding out, gave me chemo brain that compounds the brain fog. It is a very big burden to carry and very scary!!! I don't want to tell anyone, my family knows. Wrong words come out of my mouth and I have a difficult time expressing my thoughts and feeling about 40% (at least) of the time. I can't get myself under control no matter how hard I try. I have some very good time of b eing very alert and memory comes in a snap, but I count those times, but I can't count the bad days because they are too many. But I don't think that prednisone makes any difference in regards to memory. That comes from the other conditions. Stella I was just diagnoised with RA 2 months ago. Guest guest
Hi. I'm new. I have brain fog too. I have RA, Lyme, and fibromyalgia, so the brain fog is probably caused by a combination of the three. It's very frustrating because I am supposed to be in medical school. I started last year and had to take a medical leave. I am giving it one last shot this year, but really need to get my brain working properly so I can have a fighting change at succeeding. I wish I could get rid of the brain fog, but haven't found anything that works yet. I hate the brain fog more than anything else. I will live with pain if I can have my mind back. I heard before about people using Provigil in autoimmune conditions to treat fatigue and brain fog. Has anyone tried that? Any stories to share? I have tried about every OTC supplement, vitamin, and herb there is and haven't found one to clear my head up yet. On a side note...Prednisone will affect your memory. Long term use causes damage to the hippocampus. Short term use actually increases your memory, but when you are on it for a long time it is no good for your brain. It's such a wonderfully evil and helpful drug all at once. It's the drug I love to hate. LOL! Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I was just > diagnoised with RA 2 months ago. Guest guest
Hello everyone & nbsp; My name is Miriam and I have RA, lupus, fibro and Raynads. & nbsp; After a couple of months of being diagnosed with lupus, i noticed that my memory was going down the drain. & nbsp; I had a really hard time remembering the simplest words and many times I found myself in the midlde of the living room and I did not remember how to get there. & nbsp; i told my rheumy about this and he told me that its happens because of the disease and prednisone. & nbsp; I ask him if there was any medication that I could take to make it go awa and he told me that there was nothing. & nbsp; I bean to do research to see if there was anything to make the brain fog go away. & nbsp; I read that fish oil is good for the memory and & nbsp;it also helps relieve inflammation. & nbsp; Also all the vitamin B's are brain food. & nbsp; I & nbsp;went to GNC and bought bottles of fish oils and also bottles of & nbsp;vitamin B complex. & nbsp; After a couple of months, I began to see a difference and i noticed I was able to remember things more clearly. & nbsp; I take to fish oil pills a day, one in the morning and one with my last meal of the day, and I take a vitamin b & nbsp;complex in the morning everyday, except on the day that I take methotrexate because it has folic acid. & nbsp; I hope that whoever tries it, that it works for you as it did for me. & nbsp; Miriam From: & lt;doctormom78@... & gt; Subject: [ ] Re: Brain Fog Date: Thursday, May 29, 2008, 3:18 AM LOL! Guest guest
I had the same with Lyrica as well and it also made my face swell. So that is why she swithced me to Neurotin. It seems to be working well for me.I did have a reaction to the sun and my meds. I had to go get a bag of steriods and a 7 day prescription. She told me to wear a childrens sunblock from now on and I should be fine.
