Guest guest
Steroids can save lives, but they can play havoc with your immune system. I personally would avoid them unless life threatening illness was present. 6 days on Prednisone gave my brother diabetes. Guest guest
Hi , One of the things that I have said over and over is that the corticosteroids are such toxic drugs. Dr. Weil's take on these drugs are pretty much what I've based my own belief on, and I have always preferred to travel the "safe" road (meaning all natural therapies) rather than rely on drugs. So, it scares me too. That is why I'm cautious about it. Yet interested in the support of the adrenal glands, knowing that the thyroid gland is somehow connected and that the thyroid cannot be left untreated. Makes me wonder if supporting the adrenals (in much the same way we support the thyroid) would indeed be a valid therapy...but only if we can do it naturally and safely without serious side effects! Patty <waltjenking@...> wrote: I looked up Cortef after reading Patty's email to Gretchen....who is taking this? I'm not too sure about this one...it kind of scares me. What are hydrocortisone tablets? (Back to top) HYDROCORTISONE (Cortef®, Hydrocortone®) is a corticosteroid. It helps to reduce swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions. Hydrocortisone is similar to natural steroid hormone produced by the adrenal gland. Hydrocortisone treats severe allergies, skin problems, asthma, arthritis, or many other conditions. Generic hydrocortisone tablets are available. What should my health care professional know before I take hydrocortisone? (Back to top) They need to know if you have any of these conditions:•blood clotting disorder•Cushing's syndrome•diabetes•high blood pressure•infection, including chicken-pox, herpes, measles, or tuberculosis•liver disease•myasthenia gravis•osteoporosis•previous heart attack•psychosis•seizures (convulsions)•stomach or intestinal disease•under-active thyroid•an unusual or allergic reaction to hydrocortisone, corticosteroids, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives•pregnant or trying to get pregnant•breast-feedingHow should I take this medicine? (Back to top) Take hydrocortisone tablets by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets with a drink of water. Take with milk or food to avoid stomach upset. If you are only taking hydrocortisone once a day, take it in the morning, which is the time your body normally secretes cortisol. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking hydrocortisone except on your prescriber's advice.Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed. What if I miss a dose? (Back to top) If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, consult your prescriber or health care professional. You may need to miss a dose or take a double dose, depending on your condition and treatment. Do not take double or extra doses without advice. What drug(s) may interact with hydrocortisone? (Back to top) •antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen)•aspirin•barbiturate medicines for inducing sleep or treating seizures (convulsions)•bosentan•calcium supplements•carbamazepine•female hormones, including contraceptive or birth control pills•heart medicines•medicines for diabetes•medicines that improve muscle strength or tone for conditions like myasthenia gravis•phenytoin•rifampin•toxoids and vaccines•water pillsTell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines. What side effects may I notice from taking hydrocortisone? (Back to top) Some side effects can be reduced by taking single daily doses in the morning. Check with your prescriber or health care professional to determine the best schedule for your condition.Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:•bloody or black, tarry stools•confusion, excitement, restlessness, a false sense of well-being•eye pain, decreased or blurred vision, or bulging eyes•fever, sore throat, sneezing, cough, or other signs of infection•frequent passing of urine•hallucinations (seeing and hearing things that are not really there)•increased thirst•irregular heartbeat•menstrual problems•mental depression, mood swings, mistaken feelings of self-importance, mistaken feelings of being mistreated•muscle cramps or muscle weakness•nausea, vomiting•pain in hips, back, ribs, arms, shoulders, or legs•rounding out of face•skin problems, acne•stomach pain•swelling of feet or lower legs•unusual bruising or red pinpoint spots on the skin•unusual tiredness or weakness•weight gain or weight loss•wounds that will not healSide effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):•diarrhea or constipation•change in taste•headache•increased appetite or loss of appetite•increased sweating•nervousness, restlessness, or difficulty sleeping•unusual increased growth of hair on the face or body•upset stomachWhat should I watch for while taking hydrocortisone? So I know I have a yeast and an adrenal problem.. just sucks because its hard to treat both at once and I prob never really killed the yeast properly to begin with post surgery. now i cant even go to the bathroom so i dont know if i need colon cleanse or something.. because how can i get the yeast out if i cant go good. my job wants me back in a month or i might get fired and i might lose my apartment. honestly... i know the problem and im on the sporonox now and doing the diet. I certainly don't know...just want to make sure she is treating all possible areas, not just one. It's only an opinion, and maybe it's a wrong one? But I think the hormonal issues are very much a possible consideration. Gretchen, did you say you had signs of adrenal insufficiency? Are you on Cortef? I personally feel that my issues were not totally candida related--I can't say that I ever really totally gave up sweeteners or sweets. I've been using small amounts of raw honey, maple syrup, and sucanat the whole time through my illness, though I cut out white sugar and most junk foods full of sugar and white flour. But I've always celebrated birthdays with my kids and family, joining in with the cake and ice cream...I've definitely splurged on sweets at times. I agree that our diet is really important though. I'm just not certain that candida is the only thing that could be causing this cognitive dysfunction and brain fog. I don't think it was the only thing causing mine, as I had brain fog with my monthly cycle more than anything else. Guest guest
Gretchen, Sea salt 1/4 teaspoon in water several times a day has been known to get rid of heachaches from Cortef. But...I am really starting to think like I suggested earlier ...you need a full enodcrine work up. Sea salt...should not come from the supermarket unless it is marked all natural no additives. Sea Salt should not be pure white. The processed salt we typically use is not good for your adrenals. I started using sea salt and I can tell a difference in my body and how my body is responding. But please get a full work up because it is hard to tell you whether its' one thing, two things or many things. > > >has anyone gone this far off the diet and got memory loss again that > > >they had rid of for a month? i know its the yeast all the symptoms > > >krept up again. i just didnt know or recognize why and now i do. > > >i regret messing up the good dr kolb did with diet and dotn know how > > >long it takes to kill this yeast agaimnn so i can think. > > > > > >--- In > > ><mailto: % 40> < % 40>, > > > > >Kenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@> > > >wrote: > > > > > > > > Gretchen, > > > > > > > > You really do need to focus on your healing and stop panicking. Guest guest
, I think the problem or should I say the answer....we are trying to get to....is what do you do when your body doesn't have the levels it needs to begin with. Your body can't function properly and a person cannot live without cortisol. I have less than 50% of what is needed to function properly. Further scrutiny is needed...but for now...I am on Cortef. Without it my adrenal glands can not " rest " and hopefully heal. > >has anyone gone this far off the diet and got memory loss again that > >they had rid of for a month? i know its the yeast all the symptoms > >krept up again. i just didnt know or recognize why and now i do. > >i regret messing up the good dr kolb did with diet and dotn know how > >long it takes to kill this yeast agaimnn so i can think. > > > >--- In > ><mailto: %40> , > >Kenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@> > >wrote: > > > > > > Gretchen, > > > > > > You really do need to focus on your healing and stop panicking. Guest guest
Gretchen, Look at it as a lesson, you took your health for granted at one point but you now know how precious it is. Perhaps this is why you came so sick, so you will learn to care for body and value your health. Guest guest
I totally understand . This is why I'm questioning everything...my hormones are so out of whack that I need to figure something out. Yes I do agree that future scrutiny is needed but I am very glad you are functioning better. I am just an advocate of "all natural" and believe that there is a natural cure out there for everything so this is the way I am attempting to go. Please don't think I am attacking you...I am just looking for what works for me and after a lot of stuff I have read and the idiot doctors I have been to, at this point "natural" is the most important word to me and the route I plan to take, but it may not be everyone's choice and we all need to do what we think is best for us. sedwards41255 <sedwards41255@...> wrote: ,I think the problem or should I say the answer....we are trying to get to....is what do you do when your body doesn't have the levels it needs to begin with. Guest guest
, Oh honey I would never think you were attacking me. I totally agree with the natural methods. If I am posting too strongly about Cortef...it is only because of the way I felt physically while under the care of a doctor and having found out about my adrenal stage because I did a saliva test myself. That and the fact that I was slowly dieing. Once you get to stage 7, collapse by death is a possibility. It scared me. Know what my doctor said when I showed her the test? Her words, " It is what I expected " . And I wanted to say " Then why in the hell didn't you tell me to do this sooner! " But I couldn't say that to her...as I need her for prescriptions right now. I am also the one that pretty much demanded Armour. And I had a goiter over a year ago but she wasn't treating it. I could go on ad on. Part of me right now feels the Cortef and the Armour has given me hope and is potentially saving my life. That is where I am coming from. When I found out a few days ago about this, I was stunned. Guest guest
Thanks for writing, I appreciate it! I am trying so hard to take all of this stuff in and boy is it overwhelming!!!!! I just don't know where to start, but something is telling me that the first place to start is with my hormones....I can just tell they are way out of balance. What kind of test am I supposed to ask for? I have never had this done...can a natural doctor do it or does it have to be a traditional doctor. I have just had so much bad luck with the latter that I had given up! Can I order this test somewhere??? Thanks !sedwards41255 <sedwards41255@...> wrote: ,Oh honey I would never think you were attacking me. I totally agree with the natural methods. Guest guest
, You can get the saliva test that test for cortisol, thryoid and some of the sex hormones as well as DHEA at www.canaryclub.org. Join and follow the instructions. Once you are a member, sign back in and click on DiagnosTechs Labs. You can order the test from them. Another website is http://www.doctorsdata.com/home.asp. This is where I had my heavy metals hair test analysis. I notice they now have a new 24 hour urine IODINE loading test. Others here may know of other sites. These are the only two I have used so far. Great Smokies Lab in North Carolina does very good hormonal testing but you need a doctor for this one. > > > >has anyone gone this far off the diet and got memory loss again > > that > > > >they had rid of for a month? i know its the yeast all the > symptoms > > > >krept up again. i just didnt know or recognize why and now i > do. > > > >i regret messing up the good dr kolb did with diet and dotn > know > > how > > > >long it takes to kill this yeast agaimnn so i can think. > > > > > > > >--- In > > > ><mailto: %40> > > , > > > >Kenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@> > > > >wrote: > > > > > > > > > > Gretchen, > > > > > > > > > > You really do need to focus on your healing and stop > > panicking. Guest guest
without supporting the adrenals, you will have problems increasing your thyroid meds to sufficient levels, as the meds can't get into the cells. Both are connected and equally important. warmly, julie Re: Re: brain fog Hi , One of the things that I have said over and over is that the corticosteroids are such toxic drugs. Patty <waltjenking > wrote: I looked up Cortef after reading Patty's email to Gretchen....who is taking this? Anyways.. now i have all those symptoms, terrible fog, yeast "down there", in my brain, on my tongue, sores in my mouth. How long does it take to kill yeast or did I make my body grow it again and its going to be VERY hard to get rid of this time? Guest guest
My sea salt is Celtic Sea Salt, very course and GRAY. lol I also take this 1/2 tsp 2X a day. It is good support for the Adrenals, just like the vitamin C. Re: brain fog Gretchen,Sea salt 1/4 teaspoon in water several times a day has been known to get rid of heachaches from Cortef. But please get a full work up because it is hard to tell you whether its' one thing, two things or many things. > > >has anyone gone this far off the diet and got memory loss again that> > >they had rid of for a month? i know its the yeast all the symptoms> > >krept up again. i just didnt know or recognize why and now i do.> > >i regret messing up the good dr kolb did with diet and dotn know how> > >long it takes to kill this yeast agaimnn so i can think.> > >> > >--- In> > ><mailto: %40> < %40>,> >> > >Kenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@>> > >wrote:> > > >> > > > Gretchen,> > > >> > > > You really do need to focus on your healing and stop panicking. Guest guest
I was the same way, one step away from s Disease. I have less than 20% of the needed Cortisol being made by my own body. It is very important to obtain proper testing via Saliva before just taking HC, I agree. Its not something to mess around with. warmly, julie Re: brain fog ,I think the problem or should I say the answer....we are trying to get to....is what do you do when your body doesn't have the levels it needs to begin with. Your body can't function properly and a person cannot live without cortisol. I have less than 50% of what is needed to function properly. Further scrutiny is needed...but for now...I am on Cortef. Without it my adrenal glands can not "rest" and hopefully heal. > >has anyone gone this far off the diet and got memory loss again that> >they had rid of for a month? i know its the yeast all the symptoms> >krept up again. i just didnt know or recognize why and now i do. > >i regret messing up the good dr kolb did with diet and dotn know how> >long it takes to kill this yeast agaimnn so i can think.> >> >--- In > ><mailto: %40> , > >Kenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@>> >wrote:> > >> > > Gretchen,> > >> > > You really do need to focus on your healing and stop panicking. Guest guest
I know that HC and Armour saved my life. I am so grateful to have found people to help and support me. The Doc's just don't get it. They want to keep us sick I think, ($$$$ kickbacks?) and keep pushing the synthetics ...that do just that. Keep us a little bit sick. warmly, julie Re: brain fog ,Oh honey I would never think you were attacking me. Her words, "It is what I expected". And I wanted to say "Then why in the hell didn't you tell me to do this sooner!" But I couldn't say that to her...as I need her for prescriptions right now. You take care, ...and > > >has anyone gone this far off the diet and got memory loss again > that> > >they had rid of for a month? i know its the yeast all the symptoms> > >krept up again. i just didnt know or recognize why and now i do. > > >i regret messing up the good dr kolb did with diet and dotn know > how> > >long it takes to kill this yeast agaimnn so i can think.> > >> > >--- In > > ><mailto: %40> > , > > >Kenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@>> > >wrote:> > > >> > > > Gretchen,> > > >> > > > You really do need to focus on your healing and stop > panicking. Guest guest
I'm just not certain that candida is the only thing that could be causing this cognitive dysfunction and brain fog. I don't think it was the only thing causing mine, as I had brain fog with my monthly cycle more than anything else. I agree, IMO... Gretchens trouble may be more the Adrenal issues and thyroid. She said she was hypo before implants. Re: Re: brain fog I know Candida issues can be very severe...I guess I thought it took alot longer than 5 weeks for them to crash a body though. Some people suffer through various stages for years and years before they figure out what is going on, and the fungus has a chance to mutate into the more virulent forms. Guest guest
Dear Gretchen, Implants do not the woman make! If you were doing fitness shows before why don't you go for it again? Any company worth its' salt doesn't hire a chest! They hire a real live, fit person, someone who other women can relate to. One who displays health and fitness. I have a friend whose daughter has been representing a large fitness equipment manufacturer for the past 10 years and she is all natural....flat! She has been married and given birth to 2 babies during her career and she is still in just as great of demand today as she was pre-children. No boob job. No anorexia. No drugs. Just good clean living, healthy diet, regular workouts (her company has given her all of the equipment she needs) and she is very well off for her diligence and efforts. She is my idol! Maybe you can do the same thing and show the world and most of all other women, that we are more than our boobs. You could reach so many women and save them from the torture we have all been through. As the others have said, you are young and have a great life ahead of you. Consider making a statement by dedicating your life to achieving your dreams and helping other women at the same time. It seems it would be a win for everyone! God bless you as you heal. Deb The fish are biting. Get more visitors on your site using Search Marketing. Guest guest
Gretchen ~ I guess God is telling you something...........The implants dont make who you are, they just make you sick. God also protects you from things that are not something you are to get an education from. So, just know that job wasnt what you thought it was suposed to be, or it wasnt the right timing for it. Believe and trust in God and in yourself, set your goals, and work towards them, you will get there, a-la-natural.........and you will have to much to teach people through the education you are currently getting...... Guest guest
OH, I did forget to mention, when my mom was on chemo for her pancreatic cancer, she had a reaction. She was already not far from death, so they only gave her the chemo to try to shrink the tumor as the tumor size multiplied in size by leaps and bounds. anyway, they gave her steroids for the reaction to the chemo. She reacted to that by going into steroid psychosis. Something she went in and out of from that day til she died a month later. What a painfull wrechid death it was. Steroids are scarey....ya never know how you will react. With silicone disease and all its side dish illnesses and toxicity, you just dont know how things will go with any synthetic medication.
