Guest guest
Hi Rose, The phenol intolerance is a pain in the butt!!!! So many times I wished my son could tolerate phenols- it would make all the difference! I would encourage you to keep trying with the No Fenol, since you have it. Could you try 1/8 capsule, then very slowly work your way up - I don't know what dosage you gave her before- that worked for us. My son is extremely sensitive to phenols too. It seems like to be able to do SCD there has to be some phenol tolerance otherwise there just isn't enough foods to keep a child full. Have you tried cooked pear or really cooked green beans- they were the easiest for my son to deal with. I hope you find some success! Guest guest
I'm with you guys. I'm finding Luke's diet to be very limited right now, but do-able. Here's what he's eating, though your kids may not be able to tolerate these for other reasons (his diarrhea is not so unmanageable as some), they are low-phenol and he is responding very well: plain cooked chicken boiled eggs cheeses sliced, peeled pears (he won't eat them cooked) sliced, peeled mangoes bananas peanut butter " cookies " w/ carrots and yogurt hidden inside (this took some doing but he is eating them now) working very hard to get him to drink the yogurt smoothie, he takes 1 sip now watered down pineapple juice he ate 1 pea last night w/out gagging or spitting it out! That's it. Not much variety, but he didn't have much variety before SCD either. That's the nature of the beast, ASD and phenol-intolerant. Won't it be amazing if SCD helps " cure " both??? Wow. Hang in there! I'm going half nutty too, and operating on very little sleep here, but it's worth it, I think! in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/highly sensitive to phenols & salicylates/diarrhea & gas problems; , age 3, healthy; and , 19 mos, healthy All SCD 1 1/2 weeks re: butternut squash Hi Rose, The phenol intolerance is a pain in the butt!!!! Best wishes Gwen, mom to Nina 29 mos
